What is the best goal ever?
Answers:
Although i regret saying it it has to be Maradona's slalom run through the whole of the England team in the same game where he created the hand of god. To go past Bobby Moore that easily amazing!
goal in what sport?
Brazil vs Italy (1970) carlos alberto
Michael Owen of ENGLAND scored against ARGENTINA during the round of 16 match at the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals.

Cheekiest goal, has to be Henry's backheel for Arsenal, can't remember who against though.
The one I scored in a Sunday league match in 1983, from the half way line with the wind behind me, hoofed it and it went in the top corner, the goalkeeper never saw it.
gotta say my favourite in recent history was gerrards near impossible free kick in the FA cup final last year, the ball didnt go up, dindt go down, it just went from foot to net! oh yeah and of course 95% of rise or alonsos goals! have a guess who i support, dares ya!

Owen's slalom v Argentina (1998)
Van Basten's v the USSR (1988)
Nicky Butt's diving header v Newcastle in Charity Shield (1996)
Eddie Youds Ipswich v Arsenal (1994) Best ever OWN goal!

Argentina's 24 pass move v Serbia & Montenegro (2006)
Beckham from halfway line v Wimbledon (1996)
Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick v Barnsley (1997 FA Cup)
One for fan's with sharp memories: A Blackpool player scored a goal (think it was against Swindon Town) on 5th Sep 1998. He had his back to goal at the time. Cross came in, he controlled the ball with one foot, and backhealed it with the other. Could have gone anywhere but bust the net instead. Very cheeky.
Xabi Alonso's 66 yards goal. [liverpool vs newscastle]
This is such a tough question and would take a lot of thought. I would put Crouch's recent goal against Galatasaray (his 2nd one). It had so much power and was a full body shot.

Seen loads of top notch strikes in my time,as you have, but, the best has to be Marco Van Bastens in European Championships against Russia, long ball over from wide, right over the box, nearly goes out and the big man clips it right over the keeper from an impossible angle! Remember it?
I scored a cracker on the volley today
Wayne Rooney's v Newcastle
What can i say just takes your breath away
frank worthington for bolton 1970"s
Trevor Sinclair playing for QPR, overhead from outside the area at pace
The best ever scored was Maradona V England (not the hand of god) he ran from inside his own half glancing past at least 4 English players and finished off with a class shot.
The best one i remember was Dalian Atkinson for Villa against Wimbledon, after picking up the ball deep in the Villa half he tricked his way round half the Wimbledon team then chipped the goalie, a brilliant solo goal
Zola's! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-cpgfaq4.
Denis Laws backheel for Man City against Man Ure in 1974 . Priceless

I agree with John Barnes vs Brazil. Just a pity he didn't do it more often.
To be sure the best ever was Paulo Di Canio's goal for West Ham against wimbledon, the one where Sinclair crossed from the right and Di Canio rose form the air like a god with wings and used his magic right foot to arrow the ball in the right side of the goal leaving the keeper (sullivan?) looking like he had just been mugged by two 7 year olds! Masteful
