Cristiano Ronaldo's career will overshadow that of Wayne Rooney's because of sex appeal and flash?
I think C RON's career will overshadow Rooney's simply because C RON have the much bigger sex appeal, and in today's world of sports marketing sex appeal is huge. There's a reason kaka gets more goggle searches then Ronaldinho despite Ronaldinho's superior skills. Same thing with C.RONALDO he gets more goggle and website searches then Rooney for that reason. Girls are becoming a huge part of football and with Beckham dying down, I think C.Ronaldo, Von Persie and Podolski's marketing days are soaring high, also wen it comes to pure footballing skills Ronaldo was alwasy more flashy then Rooney, but Rooney had been more effective, but this season so far Ronaldo is learning to temper his flash with effectiveness, I still think Rooney will always be the slightly better player, but with Ronaldo's amazing footworks and good looks he will always overshadow Rooney

I agree, but I think Ronaldo is gay. In all his videos, he does a move and then falls to the ground. All he does is dive, even when there is no one near him. There is a video where he dives and as he is falling, he is staring and yelling at the ref BEFORE he hits the ground. And then the World Cup incident. I hope Rooney breaks his leg in a tackle during their first practice that would be nice.

yea i think rooney will be overshadowed a bit, especially internationally with new people coming into the sport through advertisement and marketing and stuff. but obviously there is still going to be an exceptionally large number of people who will notice rooney and pay attention to what he has to offer on the pitch.

I disagree. Sex appeal doesn't guarantee you marketbility and fame. First of all, people hate ronaldo because of what he did to wayne rooney. Second of all, look at arod. Arod has "sex appeal" but he's pretty much hated everywhere. Seatle? Booed. Texas? Jeered. New York? Absolutely hated. He's a great player, maybe one the best ever, but he's hated and mocked as a "pretty boy" and a choker. If you can't deliver the goods and be clutch, not even sex appeal can save you.
