Will Roy Keane make as good a manager as he did a player?

Answers:
sunderland should feel lucky that they have got roy keane. The kind of skills this guy has i am sure he will make a good manager
Lets hope so. As he said though, experienced managers have tried their hand at managing Sunderland and have failed.so why not give him a go.lets hope his hunger and enthusiasm make up for his lack of experience.
Of course
No, he's just a thug and will rule by fear. Players don't respond to that anymore. Back in the 70's maybe...
don't you mean as bad a manager as he was a player ask haaland's leg
Oh Yes, he would make a good manager and Sunderland result would be better than last year, my fear is he should not be under too much pressure as critics are waiting for him.
No he won`t
I'm sure he will make a good manager but unfortunately he doesn't have much to work with has he! Sunderland for gods sake, couldn't score in a brothel!
Only time will tell. My concern is how will he react when players of less ability than he is used to working with are unable to come up to his exacting standards? If he can cope with that I think he has the making of a successful manager.
no

Thinking from the sideline and board room is a different matter compared to leading team-mates on the pitch.
he won't be able to handle players of sunderland's quality

great player, but i just can't see him being very good tactically...he's too angry

why do we assume great players will be great managers...look at ferguson, mourinho, wenger all shite players
Yes, he will
sunderland should feel lucky that they have got roy keane. The kind of skills this guy has i am sure he will make a good manager he was also a very good player and he will be a coach and will become a legand
we should wait for that.dont jump to any conclusions.
Rare that great players make great managers .. but certainly in terms of passion, determination, character and strength he has the right characteristics for the Sunderland job.

Whether he can talk to and express his feeling to players that were not 50% as good as him at his peak will be the deciding factor.
I think time will tell.

I really do not know - it depends whether he will be able to control his temper.

I think we should give him a chance and see how it goes as I do think he has tons of potential.
i cant wait till someone pisses him off he might beat them up in front of the whole ground
What sport did he play?
yes
Good players do not necessarily become good Managers. Roy Keane was/is a good follower and every good follower is a would-be good Manager
i hope so
It is very difficult to tell in advance how good a new manager will be. That's why so many get sacked.

Many leading players have been disastrous managers (as a personal opinion I would suggest Souness and Keegan as examples). However, Keane will motivate people who are willing to make a commitment. And he has worked very hard on learning the skills: all the reports are that he has done far more than get the qualifications as pieces of paper. Finally he has got off to a winning start: the first day in a new job can often make or break a career.

In short, I think Sunderland are taking a big risk but I have a hunch it will succeed. Incidentally, I am in no way a Sunderland supporter, so this is not wishful thinking.
Does he have any coaching qualifications, for starters?
It will take a lot to succeed with Sunderland in a short time. He needs to be able to communicate with the players at a level where they do not fear him too much.
keane will do a great job
i would think so, i mean he learned his trade from possibly the two greatest managers in the sport! that being Brian Clough & Sir Alex Ferguson!
im a blackburn rovers fan and yes i think he will do well for sunderland i just hope he has the resoures if he does as well as he did as a player then the maccan boys will have nothing to worry about good luck
of course he had fantastic leadership qualities as captain of united so why not as a manager,he better be good because united will need a manager soon.
No, because he was phenomenal player
I hope so.
Unfortunately there is no direct correlation beween being a great player and becoming a great manager. Roy Keane is very passionate about football and is a workhorse in training, leading by example. Hopefully he will develop in to a great manager over time :)
