Years ago a friend of mine who was also a paddock judge told me that he could pick the race winner on 2 points. In the paddock, the racing official will go to each horse to read the number which is tattoed on the upper lip. A horse that is ready to race. feel's good and want's to get out on the track to win, will not wait for the official to pick up the lip to read the number but will "smile" and the number can be read without touching the horse.
The second thing he pointed out is, when the horses are leaving the paddock, if you watch for a horse that is "making cookies" on the track, that means he is really strung tightly and could easily win the race if he doesn't do something in the gate to get dis-qualified.
This is why all the serious betters are standing at the paddock fense watching the horses. it's the only place you can see what they are actually doing just prior to the race.
I get 10 percent of your winnings for this. please just put it in my checking account. 8=)
this may sound absolutly daft, but next time your in the bookies watch the dogs going down to the traps, if a dog has a crap on the way get your cash on him! stupid but seems to work. don't go out and throw your cash on the next dog to do it, but if he does and you already fancy him, take advantage.
I think betting on racing is silly-even the "favorite" can loose and there is no guarentee. I guess that's why it betting tho.
It can be fun.
I like to bet on the horses with the coolest names! Even, the underdogs.
One day, it just might work out!

The best way to get a tip, real honest to goodness tip is from the horse itself. If you can talk to him and he says he'll win go for it.
There is no one 'system' that works. It is just like any other game, the outcome is determined within the race itself. The best advice I have for you is to read some books by successful handicappers. The Education of a Horseplayer by Sam Lewin is a real good one, Picking Winners by Andrew Beyer is another.
Read the Daily Racing Forum with seriousness and intensity.
It is the Bible of Horse Racing. Look for clues that point to winners.
Try the pet psychic. Maybe the horses can tell her if they are going to run a big one ("I feel great, the trainer just shot me up with a nice drug potion"), or if they are not (not feeling well, have a headache, ankles bothering me, etc.)
Seriously, after three or four favourites win, bet a longshot, theyre due to come in. And after say two longshots come in, bet a favourite.
Always bet the favorite to finish second.
Horse racing is not predictable because it involves 2 unpredictable element which are the human (jockey) and animal (horse). I developed a simple evaluation system myself, sound basic but it works and share it with you.
Evaluate each horse of a race and score 1 point for each of the following criteria, if seems applicable to the horse:
1. Appear well groome, has a shinny coat and muscled.
2. Appear fast pace movement, no choppy gait or random steps during parade.
3. No appearance of accessive sweating or pronouce white lather on body, legs, neck.
4. Walk with head up, appear stream muscle on neck or bouncing neck.
5. Appear mouth open(smile), seems strugling with the handler.
6. Race track advantage (exp. Sharp turning run course and shorter straight runway before the goal post (< 300m) advantage to Speed runner, longer straight run way (> 350m) advantage to late-runner. Good, soft, heavy track etc)
7. Race pace advantage - predict the pace of the race, slow pace advantage to Speed runner, fast pace advantage to Late-runner or stalkers.
8. Jockey advantage - capable or ordinary jockey rider.
9. Past result
Evaluate each horse and score 1 point for each of the criteria, bet around on horses with the highest scores.
Happy wining.
only bet races in which you feel you have an "edge", meaning that the public is making the "wrong" horse the favorite, and there is serious money to be made by betting around him.
i've been betting horses for a living for over 36 years and you must also remember that you can't beat all 9 races everyday, so don't attempt it. but, you can beat 2-3 a day and this is how i make my living!!
patience and control is the answer.
i have a website called eat chalk.com ,which will give you selective "plays" daily which will make you money 80% of the time.
