I wanna know what is ECW and WCW .?
I am new at this,But what is ECW and WCW?and what is their relationship with Raw and Smackdown?

ECW stands for Extreme Championship Wrestling and was bought out by WWE a couple of yrs ago and took it off the air and now recently brought it back to make more money of course. Ted Turner wanted to buy the WWE from Vince but he wouldn't sell it, so Ted Turner created WCW to compete against Vince, but it didn't work and Vince bought WCW and took it off the air.
They are all owened by the McMan family and they are just sending different people to each place to shake things up. Make it interesting again..

Early in its run RAW was a taped programme whereas Nitro was always shown live. This enabled the idea that anything could happen at any time.
ECW was known as Extreme Championship wrestling after being known as Eastern championship wrestling for a period. The change happened when the company began running programmes which were known for hardcore style or garbage wrestling. In 2001 both companies were closed and brought by the chairman of WWF Vince Mcmahon. Owning both companies Vince closed them both down and stole the talent for his own shows.
Recently though TNA another company has begun to develop as a contender to the WWF now called WWE and Vince has decided to garner cash from the ECW names which still has an army of fanatics who adored the Hardcore styles. Due to this knowledge that there is still a fan base McMahon resurrected the company as a partner programme to RAW and Smackdown to gain ratings cash and provide competition for his own programming of a different style.

ECW was based in Philadelphia, did shows mostly along the East Coast and had a cable TV show. WCW was basically a reorganized NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) that came into being when Ted Turner purchased the company. Despite all of Turners money, WCW eventually lost the "Monday Night War" to the WWE (they had competing shows at the same time on different cable networks), culiminating when Shane O'Mac showed up on the last Monday Night Nitro to formally announce the takeover. ECW was the brainchild of Paul Heyman (just like today); that organization was known for some of the most violent "wrestling" on tv. The fan base was loyal, but unable to sustain the organization, which was also ultimately purchased by WWE.
Today, the WWE is the primary provider of wrestling entertainment progams in North America. They hold the contracts for the wrestlers on RAW, SMACKDOWN and ECW. The only organiztion on national tv they do not control is TNA (seen on Spike TV).

Turner was in direct competition with McMahon but McMahon started the fued. ECW was just a renegade promotion ran by Paul Heyman that was based on extreme and violence as its signature matches. Both promotions produced more quality wrestlers than the WWE could ever think of and because of them the WWE performers had to do better just to compete and this created the Stone Cold Era
Just a quick correction for "liefie" WWF didn't become WWE because of Vince McMahon buying the company from his father. It was actually changed to WWE after losing a long court battle with the other WWF (World Wildlife Foundation), there fore they had to change it to WWE.
