Why do the English think that the Premiership is the best league in the world?
The premiership is crap, a 1 horse race each season the most entertaining thing about it usually happens in the last week or two when the relegation issues are being resolved.
You all slag the SPL but at least we have at least 3 teams contesting for the title and we have 1 of the best young teams in Europe.(Hibs)
Sort yourselves out and stop thinking that your better than everybody cause thats the reason your crappy national team fails so miserably every time you play in a major competition, they all think they're better than they actually are.
Get a bit of modesty about yourselves like the Scottish, Irish and Welsh and take things as they come.

I suppose its a point of perspective. Pointless in having a mindless competitve edge to I agree; as this just incourages the tribal instinct that is associated with the primate world of football.
I believe it's down to the fact that it is the best league in the world, why else would foreign players sign for english teams if it wasn't. A mixture of pace, power, skill is what makes it what it is.

I agree with you that the English national team believes that it's better than it is, but it's called self belief and all the great teams carry it. The fact that Scotland is modest is not an accolade, more an inevitability that comes with being so poor.
The premiership isn't crap nor the best in the world. I once thought the Spanish league was the best but in recent years Real Madrid, Valencia and Deportivo have been rubbish. I now believe that the Italian league is the is the best purely because, it has it's giants and giving the recent controversy happening, I still believe Juventus who aren't even in the Serire A but B, are better than some of these Spanish, English and German sides. I'd say now that Real Madrid and the rest of the main Spanish suspects have lost it, the premiership is now probably the 2nd or 3rd best after the Italian league and probably the French.
God knows why - its full of foreigners anyway!

because that is where the best players want to play.

The press and media - especially sky - have to justify the obscene amounts of money pumped into it and hype it up to all the morons that buy into it and haven't got the intelligence to compare it with any other league.

In England over the same period you have about 30 teams who have won.
The English league and the national team are separate entities, just because the English team hasn't won the World cup or European recently, at least they qualify, but English based premiership teams dominate in European competition.
Any rational football fan would look at the English / Spanish or maybe Italian leagues as the best in the world, anyone arguing that the Irish, Welsh(?) or Scottish leagues are comparable is just blinded by wild prejudice.

As a point of fact, the premiership , is the most viewed league in the world. more countries show and are interested in the premiership than any other countries league.
During the world cup and European cup, more viewers world wide , tuned in to watch England than any of the other countries including brazil..
That is fact proved by FIFA. It is also said because it is the fastest and most physical. And the premiership clubs, made more money , than any other league .
That is why the premiership is stated to be the best in the world, and not just by the English.
The answer is simple - Don't watch it if you don't like it !! and at least England get to play in major finals, when did you ever walk down a street and see nothing but your country's flags hanging out of windows and flying from cars for as far as the eye could see ?, Us English are very proud of our team and our great premiership too !!..

I don't agree! Every match is interesting to watch. You're right saying that from the very beginning the favorite is obvious, but even the team which is hanging at the bottom of the table can steal the points from them!

The premiership has nothing to do with the national team but the FA.Being the superior league, it is obvious the national team players are sourced from it. The league also draws its excitement from the many talents of foreign players on display.
