Football clubs changing badges and crests?
has anyone got any information or links about football teams that have changed their badges to more modern and to be honest more crappy designs and why they hav done it etc
Answers:
I heard thats its the manufacturer that says that is would look better like this. But i hate it you buy a shirt or poster or anything to with the club it is then out off date!
I support Huddersfield Town and a few years ago the chairman (Barry Rubarry) decided to change the badge. The manager at the time (Steve Bruce) thought also it was a good idea and everything was out of date, but they both got sacked and the old good logo is back for good.!.! (long live peter Jackson) current manager

I would doubt they do this......There would have to be a drastic reason I think for this change...Do you realize ALL the changes involved in doing such a thing? I mean besides the badges you are talking about, the letter head on their stationary,
not to mention all the uniforms, and wherever they would have that design......
FULHAM FC HAVE CHANGED THEIR BADGE SINCE AL FAHED HAS TAKEN OVER
Can't give you any links but I do have an anecdote about Chelsea's badge.
Chelsea's badge the blue rampant lion was based on the herald of the Earls of Cadogan, who were successively the Chelsea President's, an honorary title I believe.
When Ken Bates famously bought the Chelsea team for just £1.00 in the early eighties the then President, the Earl of Cadogan at that time, refused permission for Bates to continue using the design and so a new badge was designed. Still a rampant lion but without the surrounding circle with the club's name embossed on it.
And so it remained until Roman Abramovich bought the club and the original badge was re-instated, presumably with the consent of the present Earl of Cadogan.
I know that in the sixties my team, Blackburn Rovers, changed from the towns coat of arms to the single rose which has since evolved into what we have today. I know many teams in the seventies did away with the traditional badges in favour of their clubs initials.
In the nineties Liverpool changed their crest to incorporate a tribute to those who lost their lives at Hillsborough.
Chelsea and Man Yoo have recently changed their badges, although with the common factor being Peter Kenyon, this was probably more to do with Marketing (see link for history of united badge).
Cardiff City have updated theirs too, it now incorporates the Flag of St. David.
My team Leeds United have changed crests a total of 7 times!
sheffield wednesday have had 4 different crests/badges since 1956, all varying illustrations of owls with a yorkshire rose and sheffield sheaves on them, apart from the crest from the mid 80's to mid 90's and late 00's to the present, which have just had an owl inside a shield.
for any information about club crests try
Arsenal changed their badge back in 2002. They did so because they wanted more control over their merchandise and they were unable to copyright their previous badge- so basically money, but I don't blame them.
At first I wasn't sure so sure about the new crest, but now I'm used to it.
Leeds UTD the team I support seem to change their badge evry few years I don't like the present one and wish they would revert back to the emblem of the mid seventies
i think spurs changed theirs either last year or the year before to look more "modern" and "simplistic". It didnt really work.
Manchester City have recently changed their crest
Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal, MAnchester, liverpool. to be more modern. It's also part of marketing strategy to give a new image to the clubs.
