What are the best public golf course in the London area?

Answers:
Please. Not Addington Court. It depends where in London you live. In North London you have Trent Park near Southgate and Whitewebbs near Enfield. Both are very cheap and offer a good challenge. In the east, you could do worse than Risebridge or Belhus Park near Romford. Hainault Forest has two nice courses but five hour rounds to go with it. OK if you're not in a hurry. Heading south you could do worse than Dulwich & Sydenham Hill. Brilliant in the winter with unbelievable drainage. VERY quick greens too. Mitcham golf club presents a fair challenge too with a lot of undulating fairways and decent greens. The FHG Golf Guide for 2007 will be out soon, it's miles better than the AA guide and costs less too.
