It would depend how valuable an asset you were to your employer and the same will apply to Thatcher. After he has been dealt with by the FA (and possibly the courts) it will be up to City to decide whether or not he is a liability.

Some people seem to be suggesting is that people competing in a sporting fixture should, in the context of the game, be subject to the same laws as they are at any other time. If this principle was applied, it would mean that any act of violence could result in a prosecution for assault. If that happened, there would probably be arrests after ever single football match. Football would be impossible and certainly rugby and boxing would be impossible. Any contact sport would effectively be illegal.
