Answers:
no argument there mate - if i did that to you or you to me last night in the pub - i dont think we'd be online right now! makes bowyer look like an angel!
No he shouldnt be able to go back to his overpaid job,hes nothing but a thug,to do what he did once was bad enough but its not the first time hes done something so stupid. He should be kicked out of the game forever,1st class tosser, even if he played for my team stoke city id still have the same oppinion.
NO, I think he should be banned from football forever! Who knows what he'll do next time if they allow him to play. He's a disgrace to football players and for football fans out there.
Ban him forever and the easy way to ensure that! Keep him in jail forever where he will train the inmates to perform the same act and test their skills by trying it out on him. All the inmates each day 7 days a week. Maybe he might realise when he is old an knackered what a piece of crap he is
i hate that boy so much. may he rot in jail. poor mendes, he was actually suffering from fits when he hit the boards.
Its dependent on the English FA, I believe.
Its clear that neither his club or his manager will stand by him.
Everton player Duncan Ferguson ever got a jail term while playing for Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish League. That effectively ended his career in Scotland until he came to play in England.
The guy is an animal lad.
dunno!! but did ya see the punch wwhooooooaaaaaaaaa
I am a Man City fan and am disgusted in what happened. If I had done that to a steward in the stand, I would be banned from every football ground in the country.

Stuart Pearce who was one of the most aggressive left backs ever is appauled too, and I would not like to disappoint Psycho!
In my mind he should never play football again! He's a thug with a track record of similar offence. The FA should give him a life ban. If he wants to be involved in football again he can play keepie uppy with the ball (and chain) which should be attached to his ankle.
I think he should never play football again ( a life time ban). I really cant see it happening though, just look at what Cantona did. All he got was a few match ban and community hours to do.

If you were jailed, it would be a matter for your employer whether or not you were sacked from your job. It would depend how valuable an asset you were to your employer and the same will apply to Thatcher. After he has been dealt with by the FA (and possibly the courts) it will be up to City to decide whether or not he is a liability.

In practice, I don't think there is any chance at all that Thatcher will be jailed. Some people seem to be suggesting is that people competing in a sporting fixture should, in the context of the game, be subject to the same laws as they are at any other time. If this principle was applied, it would mean that any act of violence could result in a prosecution for assault. If that happened, there would probably be arrests after ever single football match. Football would be impossible and certainly rugby and boxing would be impossible. Any contact sport would effectively be illegal.
Yes, he would have paid his dues.
