LIVERPOOL LIVERPOOL LIVERPOOL IT'S OUR SONG YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.
You'll Never Walk Alone" is a song written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for their 1945 musical, Carousel and sung in the movie by Claramae Turner
The song is called "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Caousel. Liverpool fans sang it first, 'though I don't know how to prove it.
Manchester United fans used to sing "You'll Never Walk Again" which says a lot for them in the 1960's.
Gerry and the Pacemakers( they where from liverpool )brought it out as the song so my guess is liverpool
written by Rodgers & hamerstein in 1945 and sung by claramae tutner in the movie carousel.frank sinatra in 45 and patti labelle in 64 elvis in 68 and jerry and the pacemakers in 63 and became the anthem of liverpool football club
maybe you should have asked "who sings it best?"
interesting qestion but i dont think people read all your post lol. i think liverpool claim it as there own because of gerry and the pacemakers but it would be interesting to find out if celtic fans sang it before GATPM? could they of got it from a tour of scotland lol.
The Kop end at Liverpool first started the trend of singing at football matches in 1963. At that time the mersey groups (Beatles, Merseybeats, Gerry & The Pacemakers etc.) were in their prime and the supporters just sang these groups' hits as they identified with them. On the first "match of the day" which was Liverpool v Arsenal, you can clearly hear the Kop singing "She Loves You". It just happened that "You'll never walk alone" fitted so well with the swaying of scraves and stuff and so this song was retained long after the others were discarded by the football fans. The travelling supporters of Liverpool took the songs on the road with them and before long everyone had copied them and made up their own at the same time.
Gerry and the Pacemakers sang it first!
They are from Liverpool, so it must have been Liverpool's song first, and I'm a Liverpool fan and I say so!
Honestly, I don't know, but I'd like to think it was Liverpool's anthem first.
