Is it true that the last two world wars started while Everton were champions in England?
(i don't know if this is true. it it is, let's hope they don't stay top of the Premiership!)
Answers:
The Football League entry on wikipedia.org says Everton won the First Division in 1914-15 and the says 'League suspended due to World War I' directly below.
It also says Everton won the First Division in 1938-39, and says 'League abandoned due to World War II' directly below that (most teams played their opening four games in the 1939-40 season before the season was abandoned) and then 'League suspended due to World War II' directly below that.
They were champions in 1939, Arsenal won in 1938 so it depends how you define it I guess Arsenal were reigning champions as the war started. But Blackburn Rovers were winners in 1914 Sunderland 1913, so don't worry
I was hoping that this was a fact cos it near on guarantee's we don't ever get a third world war!
i dont know but liverpool are waiting in the wings at anfield to put six torpedos past you for that fluke on saturday.
They were champions in the 1980S, no World War then.
I don't know but if it is true then there will never be a World War III based on that criteria
