I have a tent with built-in groundsheet, which has been damaged by stones. What is the best way to repair it?

I'm not an expert but in the past I have used ducktape and bandaids as temporary fixes for the sides. To prevent water seapage though I would say a patch for an inner tube might work, some kind of sealant, used in combination with the nylon/original material? Or just take it to a professional, return it to the manufacturer; I don't exactly but good luck.
