How do you build a putting green?
how do you go about making a putting green
Answers:
Go to a golf course and cut out there green and lay it in you yard.
Find a patch of grass and mow it down real good.
I need a sufficient amount of area. It doesn't need to be dead level, but there should be a tilt to work on drainage.
I wqouold get the ground ready with rototilling and mixing in mulch and nutriants.
I would sod. Grass seed takes forever and it comes up patchy.
Follow the sodding instructions and you could have a green in about a week.
A friend of mine built one. He looked into doing it with real grass, but it turns out that real putting greens require daily attention and a special mower that will cost you close to $1K. He decided to pour concrete and drill the holes and work out the drainage on his own, and cover it with fake putting green material, but you might consider buying one complete - you can find companies on the web that will sell you one or make one for you.
good luck
there are plenty of companies that will build you a green. But we asked our local greens keeper over for dinner.. and told him what we had in mind... he really helped. mowing any grass short isn't the answer...It took us a lot of work, but we love it.I Can practice just by stepping off my deck.. and my short game has improved tons..
it started by digging the sod up, leveling .covering with sand. and then our greens keeper friends visited for dinner... again.. and brought seed and fertilizer used at our course. The grass has to be right for your area..
two dinners and a couple bottles of wine and I have a great 10 X 10 putting green..
get to know the pro's who keep greens for a living

Hey you can have a go yourself you must getthe drainage correct if you can get ashes but failing that mixture sand and small gravel
then top soil plent rolling then a good grass mxture if you are in the uk there is a specialist seed supplier in Bishops Stortford who supply mixtures for greens fairways etc like most things the preparation is important and do not forget to lay in a watering system
