My watch says on the back?
that it is good to the depth of 30 metres i`cant swim that far down so how do i know this is true
Answers:
If you aren't going to swim down so far, then as long as its good till the depth that you can swim down to, then its enough. because if you're never going to swim down so far so whats the point in knowing if its good till that depth?
because it says so on the back.
Because it say`s so
unless you can test it, you have to take its word, that is works that far down.
tie it to a rock & string & throw it in water that deep pull it up & see if it still works
Go to deep water, put watch on 31 mtr string and do a test
It says it on the back!!
The only way to test it would be to exert it to pressure equal to being 30M underwater.
It is also worth noting that "water resistance" to a certain depth refers to a depth of still water.
If you are moving in the water, during swimming then this will increase the pressure on the watch. There is a better summary of this on the Seiko website:

In order for the watch manufacturer to claim this, the watch has to be submerged in cold still water to the appropriate depth for a predetermined length of time. You're right, though, you'll probably never go that deep. However, water resistance is usually a good indication of general durability. The deeper it goes, the tougher it is.
it takes 30 m of water. So you cant swim in a pool
