Why is it That Cardiff City, Swansea City, and Wrexham are in the English league?
But still there is a welsh league(Not saying they don't belong in the English league there just never understood). This could be the argument about Celtic and Rangers or any scottish Team being in the English league or is this completley different issue not sure.

When the Football League was founded it was not called the English League because it hoped to attract clubs from outside of England (Welsh, Scottish and Irish clubs entered the FA Cup in its early days). Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham - along with clubs like Aberdare Athletic, Merthyr Town and Newport County joined the League because it offered the best games and so better revenue. In later years Welsh clubs playing in the Football League could play in Europe via the Welsh Cup, but not through any English competition. When UEFA rules changed allowing only teams who play in their own national competition to represent them in Europe Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham had a chance to leave the Football League and enter the Welsh League. They didn't for the same reason as they originally joined the Football League - better opponents and money. So they play in the English competitions but cannot enter European competitions for Wales or for England. The same would apply to Rangers or Celtic if they joined the Football League.

scotland and ireland are considered separate principalities- england and wales are not.

Uefa cannot stop Celtic and Rangers playing in the Premiership. However, under the current rules, a club must play in its own National Association league in order to qualify for Europe. Even if Cardiff got into the Premiership and won it then they would not be eligible for the Champion's League and so by joining the Premiership, Celtic and Rangers would be missing out on European football (assuming that they were good enough).
There's just one small fly in the ointment though. Monaco (the club) play in the French league even though Monaco (the Principality) is not part of France and they are allowed into the Champion's league. Might have something to do with a certain Prince and money!

I'm assuming u are a Cardiff supporter or something but ha vent Celtic and rangers proved over the years in champions league football that they can be just as good a team as any other team playing in the champions league and beating teams from England and abroad. assuming AL.
All I know is they should be kicked out indefinitely, they should play in welsh league because, guess what their welsh.
having been to both ninian park and the vetch field as an away supporter , i can understand how they managed to gain entry into the football league,
the word scum came to mind at both games and no doubt their armies of fans marched to f.a headquarters and threatened to blow up the building if they were not allowed entry, and england being a gentlemans country bowed to the pressure and the rest is history,
and dont forget that berwick play in the scottish league when they are actually located in england

Contrary to what seems to have been said the Welsh ,English clubs (if I may put it that way) can play in Euro comps if they qualify .The FA are told how many places are avaliable to there members and they(FA) set out the criterior as they see fit.If the FA decides that the winner of the FA cup or the team finishing 6th in the prem will take one of the allocated UEFA places then they cannot change the rule 10 months later at the end of the season ,also they are not allowed to discriminate against one of there members ..So Cardiff et al can play in Europe
