He took the risk only thinking of glory and not his young family seems pretty selfish to me!!

Oh for gods sake its dianna syndrome all over again .
all the sheep in the country going baa baa over a tv personality
dont get me wrong i like the bloke
its the media morons that get me annoyed the blow everything up out of proportion
mind you it does show you the power of the media over the rest of our unable to think for themslves citizens which seem to make up about 2/3rds of the country by the response to this poor fellas accident the good thing was the money raised for the ambulance but then one asks why didnt the sheep give before?
because regardless of wat you say noone deserves that to happen to them
I have no pity, most people are just jumping on the band waggon and like who they are told to like, I think he is a git.
Maybe becaue he is not an arsehole like you
He was injured doing his job. just like a policeman or Fireman, but a bit more famous therefore well liked.
If you don't like the guy doesn't mean you should now criticise him for doing risky things.
What about the soldiers in Afghanistan are they being Selfish...No didn't think so.
Cos he's a funny guy
Richard Hammond is a really nice guy and what kind of person would you be if you didn't care that a good guy gets hurt like that?
If he was rotton to the core then fair enough.
When a person is well like Mr Hammond and a major personality this leaves an impression on people and they express there feelings in a natural way.
I completely agree! On a small level, yeh I do feel sorry for the guy, but he brought it on himself. He didn't have to drive that car, but selfishly he did. Good Question!
As 'True B' said, he's only doing his job. To entertain and present TV, its just an unfortunate accicdent. I don't think he was after 'glory'!!
Please.such questions are apparently not allowed - put in a question not too disimilar to yours a few days ago and was whupped by the sort of dears who slow down on motorways to gawp at the coach/car/lorry on it's side in the other lane - mentioned the pain Mrs. Hammond must be going through - but that part of my question was not even touched upon.
Princess Diana (bless her) has a lot to answer for, from whatever Royal estate she inhabits up above.
it's what he does for living *****!
is it any different than say someone in the RAF or police force? no, so go suck a rail road spike
Because he has been injured.
He could be a Joe Bloggs injured and I would still feel sorry for him/her.
Same with the poor child that has been killed by the two guard dogs. I do not know the child or the family, but that does not stop me for feeling for them.
well i suppose he is one of the better celebrity's and don,t really like hearing any body getting hurt in those sort of stunts i do agree with you on doing such silly pranks for the sake of TV i think the top gear people who come up with this idea need shooting
get a life,how old are you !!
I suppose it's because he is a very well liked presenter who is in the business of entertainment. OK you say he wasn't thinking of his family, maybe so, but not everyone thinks of their family before driving any car, remembering each car is potentially dangerous in the first instance. Richard was pushing the boundaries of the show Top Gear. This program would hardly progress if the presenters were going over old ground.
oh my god yet another prick without a ounce of compassion. yes he took a risk and he got hurt and yes his poor family must be going through hell but i bet his wife wasn't complaining when she is out spending his wadds of cash that he earns by taking these risks.
Yes it was his job, but it can hardly be compared to the defence or police force. If my job required me to drive 300mph for no reason other than filming it I would leave the job especially if I had a young family. I don't want to wish the man unwell, I'm glad he survived and I hope he recovers. I also hope he gives up this stupid job. I also hope the BBC have learnt their lesson and stop wasting british tax payers money, and endangering their staff's lives by filming stupid stunts like this. Seriously why does anyone need to know if you can sail a car.?
He is a good investigative reporter when not on Top Gear.
The producers put him in a position he was not trained for.
They could have sponsored/followed the British Bluebird team, http://www.speedace.info/bluebird_electr.
who have a car and professional team capable of 350-400mph;
but choose instead to go for a silly stunt.
And the Bluebird is electric, really important story I would think; but Top gear seem incapable of understanding that if it doesn't pollute it can still outperform all their fossil fuel sterotypes.
They also have not reported on the Tesla sportscar, made by Lotus http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_.
who is he
It was his job and his interest. I don't think you can fault anybody just because they have the opportunity to live out their dreams. He seems a genuine, nice guy and personally I wish him a speedy recovery and send my best wishes to his family.
You, on the other hand, simply sound like a very bitter individual.
. . . everyone? . . .
Richard Hammond crashed at nearly 300mph, you don't wish that to happen to anyone even if there your worst enemy, and he now has serious brain damage that could effect his life forever. That is why everyone is taking pity on him.
