There are numerous brands. Do you want a "cool" brand or do you want a functional brand? What does your brother want the rucksack to do? Is it for long/short expeditions? or just day walks? How much gear will he be carrying? Remember the bigger the bag the more you are likely to put in it. A number of important facts about a bag - good strong shoulder and waist strapsthat are padded, genaral waterproofing, back breathability, number of pockets, access from the bottom, straps to carry poles, ice axes etc. Price.
