Managers accepting 'bungs', what are your thoughts?
would it or has it weakened your support for your team?
(Panorama last night)
Answers:
The Panorama programme was a non-event. It did not show any manager accepting a bung or agreeing to take a bung. All it really showed was three unscrupulous agents out to make a fortune from selllng their businesses to the "invented" new company. Apparently these agents have all now said they were telling lies and just trying to impress their potential new boss. I found the whole programme boring and a total waste of time. Because of this programme and the airing in the media (football writers having nothing else to write about and themselves inventing stories) people are saying it must be happening. Where is the proof? I am not saying it does not happen but people should not try to wreck someone's career and reputation without concrete proof..
This must have been going on for years, the programme last night was enlightening but seemed to single out Sam Allardyce. Also there were no actual bungs recorded just agents trying to show off to someone, I think there should be proper evidence before we start accusing people.
this has been happening for years, i'm surprised its only just come to light. But its all part of the game to be honest
Let's be honest if you thought you could get away with it (and no-one is getting hurt) you would wouldn't you? I would! It's not like it's drug money or such like is it?
Its the nature of the beast, and all part of human nature
Lets be honest about this. There is a lot more of this going on than meets the eye. Sam is just the tip of the iceberg, but at the end of the day mud sticks.
Last evening i saw the said TV show and was shocked at the lengths of the people on their are going to to get a fast buck surly managers are paid well above the average for a job that is not really a job anyway if you love football u should respect the players on the pitch and the managers for what they do but bung taking is out of order if you ask me. GOOD TV BUT NOT FOR NAMED MANAGER AND SON IF YOU ASK ME THE FA OT TO SHORT IT OUT PRONTO.
I dont see the fuss. It is no different to me phoning round the insurance brokers for my car insurance and touting my buisness to them, saying that someone else has offered me a lower ammount. Surely it is mroe of a moral question than a legal question and if the fottballers are that thick they need people like agents to run their affairs rather than a lawyer and their own talent then they are their own worst enemy and I have no sympathy for them. If people in the industry want to do it then why not. Walk down the high street and look at adverts on the TV, each indusry touts and encourages underhand business practice from "better rates than HSBC" (when there are strings applied to it) to we will beat any deal, just bring in your reciept and we will refund the difference. The football bungs are no diferent in scenario, 1 man wants his product (the fotballer) to go to the highest bidder and as a result "advertises" his goods to those who he deems as a suitable customer ans like in the high street when you take the sweetner (free vouchers remember a few years ago the free trips to new york from hoover) you buy.
Oh no. it hasn't weakened me.nor my support for my team..
I simply wonder what they are going to do with all of these bungs?
Put them into jars, demi-johns, plug the hole in the dyke, use them on barrells, in baths, use them on leaking dams? I'm simply at a loss!
Or am I getting confused. a bung isn't the thing that you smoke sh!t from is it?
Fcuk off West Brom
What is the difference between a bung and a bonus or a reward?
The only problem the FA have with "BUNGS" is that they do not get any themselves!!
it is no different than a city stock/invest/etc taking his bonus, or the wheeler ,dealing to sec re high value contracts,IE government/defence/utilities etc,the London dome, casino.American ranch, cowboy boots, say no more john.no what i mean, it is led from the top,and filters down to every level in society, right or wrong,i think that the way business,s are structured, it leads to this sort of practise, finding away around things,IE tax, planning etc is a Miltie billion pound industry, this is just another part of it ,,
Whats the fuss there's back handers that goes of in the corperate world every day!! What do you do when your fed up in your job you look at the job section and ring a few companies to tell them that your available and what your qualities are!! Just the same what your agent would be doing if you had one!
I despise the dishonesty of people who say or do things but STILL deny it - despite clear evidence.
These people seem to think that they are above the law.
Who honestly didn’t suspect that this was going on? Come on, did Panorama really tell us shocking news last night? It was shocking in that it named names but it didn’t exactly reveal to us anything that we didn’t know already. So a player gets transferred for 10 million and an agent makes 500,000…. So what? As a Leicester City fan, an agent could make 500 million for all I care if he gets Frank Lampard or Paul Scholes playing in a Leicester shirt. Football is a big business. Backhanders and sweetners are very much a part of big business. Deals have always made this way. The only way I would be angry at my manager is if they signed a player that they didn’t really want and who wasn’t going to benefit my team, just to make some money for themselves. If the player is good for my club I don’t care who makes money from the deal.
Having said that, I hope Sam Allardyce gets the book thrown at him cos he’s one hell of a miserable sod. I wonder if Panorama would have made these allegations against Big Sam if he had gotten the England job.
i don't care if they do. more money, yes please
It's not fair, they should have a policy to sack people who accept bungs straight away.
Of course, research the manager first, make sure its all true.
