Rules of Golf 10-2 (a) Honour?

This rule states the competitor with the lowest score takes the honour at the next teeing ground.
Does this refer to gross score or net score?
i.e. in a Stableford comp. on a par 4; is a 6 net 4 for 2 points a lower score than a 5 net 5 for 1point? Or is the lower gross score of 5 the determinant
If you have the answer can you please state the authority for it as this is an argument that comes up often and I would like a definitive answer.

This rule states the competitor with the lowest score takes the honour at the next teeing ground. this means that the score on the last hole is the main issue, not neccessary the over all score.

example,You and I are playing a stableford match, you are 18 hdc and I am scratch, so you get about 14 shots.
First hole you score 5 and I score 5 you take the honours.(par 4)
next hole .(par 4) I take 4 you yiu take 5, thats even on that hole, so you carry the honours from the first hole. I can not take the honours untill I win a hole out right. for example the next hole is par 3 I take 3 and you take 6, I win that hole and take over the honours.... hope that helps with your Question
The only rule i no is that u r disqualified if u enjoy urself
It's the lowest net score that determines the "honour" of the next tee shot. Although your stableford example is valid, it's not the points, but the net score that counts.
10-2 refers to stroke play tournaments. In stroke play it is gross score that determines honour. In "net" stroke play handicaps are not applied to individual holes but to the total score.

Stableford competitons are forms of stroke play (32-1)

USGA Rules of Golf 2006-2007
Gross score in any competition has the honour.
