After being Svens understudy has Steve McClaren learnt nothing or is he agreeing with Sven try anything?
this team is just not good enough and even with terry venables they fail to entertain let alone win and use david beckam as a scapegoat, at least he entertained with kicks or even missed penalties, perhaps they should all resign get a new younger manager, bring back becks and a new team that still may not win but perhaps entertain either with field tricks or even laughingly play to win.

They need some kind of leadership. I for one, really think they should have considered Sam Allardyce. But that boat has sailed apparently. And it's not even so much a question of the players or the managers. Let's face it, the England 2005 WC team was a dream.on paper. The problem has to do with play-making. There were none. They aren't exploiting the strengths of the players they have. The formations have been a joke. Ditto for the level of fitness and commitment. And while I think David Beckham, is brillant at set pieces and definitely has talent, he isn't the answer either. To bring him back for morale and for set pieces is one thing, but he can't have the whole squad on his shoulders as it has frequently seemed in the past. They need new blood, Lennon, Walcott as well as making good use of the skills of the legends, Rooney, Joe Cole, Gerrard, Beckham? Lampard??.
And it has to be said too, that the best football right now is being played in Europe, Germany, Italy and France. Those squads need to be studied, and possibly a manager from one of them brought in.
here ..here.
I Have no idea..
He'd learnt a lot. Like how to fleece the FA. Ignore the media, be stubborn-headed and of course, banging anything that moves, in his spare time.
Judging from recent results, he's been an exceptional student.
Did you watch their performance during the world cup? They played with our emotions with regards to Rooneys fitness(how many times did you hear the immortal words - will he be fit for this or that game when in reality none of the team were fit for anything because they struggled in every single match before they got knocked out by Portugal and Steve Mclaren bought the nails for his own coffin by axing David Beckham. Apparently it was because of a clash of personalities that he got rid of Becks. I could go on but it is 2.41 am and I'm f****d
experiment will bring failure sometimes, some might bring success..remember brazil 1994?they were as defensive as greece in euro and still won. time will tell i guess, and bring beck back!
Just accept the fact. The team is not good enough no matter who coaches the team.
Unfortunately the Squad is just not good enough, there are some great players but sadly others are average at best - add this to many that aren't in good form and you have a recipe for disaster.
Sven and MaClaren both have picked Jermaine Jenas for England squads without him making an impact in the first team. Carrick has never really shone at international level and Lampard has proved that maybe he isn't the answer.
Time will prove whether the point is valid but the England job is a poisoned chalice, if you do nothing you show a lack of creativity - change things around and you're vilified for not playing 442!
the 1 thing no england manager should do is bring back beckham, he underperformed in france 98 (when he played), euro 2000, japan 2002, euro 2004, and in this world cup just gone, as good as people think he is you cant argue with the facts, when it has come to the main stage he has failed to deliver every time, (with the exception of the greece game 5 year aga), as for mclaren i dunt think he really knows who is best sside is yet but it isnt down to him, the players have to prove they are the best when they play and they arent doing it, look at lampard and gerrard, why cant they play together, what is wrong wi them
I do not think many people in the country were happy when McClaren was appointed. One of the reasons is that he spent 5 years under Sven and must share some of the blame for England's failures. I was hoping Venables would have more say especially on tactics. Beckham should have gone in any event. I do agree that England do not entertain. At times they do not seem to know what they are doing. There also seems to be a lack of pride. I would exempt Terry Neville and Gerrard from this accusation however. I remember the 1966 world cup winning team and if some of the current England players showed as much desire as Alan Ball the England side would be a lot better. With the current manager we have no hope of winning anything. He needs to be brutal and if players are not playing well they should be dropped and replaced by players who are hungry to play for their country. You do not need necessarily to have the best players in the country in the team. It is all about finding players who can play effectively together. Brian Clough was a master of getting quite ordinary players together and having extra ordinary teams.
