What is the most common type of valve on a bicycle? Presta or Schrader?
Answers:
schrader is the best presta can start leaking.i use schrader on my 24 mountain
Schrader and presta both work fine. The most common on cheaper bikes is schrader. This will blow up with a car type pump. Presta is the choice of nearly all pro riders and you'll find them an most higher end bikes. It's lighter and less bulky.

this will show the diferences.
Depends on what type of bike you're talking about. On mountain bikes, it's Schrader, on racers and tourers, it's Presta. Can't say I've had too many leaky Prestas myself, but maybe I've been lucky.
On older bikes, you may also find Woods valves (which will take a Schrader-style flexible hose fitting from a bike pump). These I have had a few leak problems with, but I doubt they're even fitted to bikes any more these days.
If you're a mountain bike rider probably Schrader. If you're a roadie it's Presta. I've seen either on either but usually Schrader for mtn, and Presta for rd.
Niether is really more or less common it is always preferbnce of either rider or manufacturer. I prefer schrader for off road as these are quicker and easier to pump up fast however on road presta is better as it is lighter and smaller. However u r far more likely to braek a presta valve so it depends how often you adjust tyre pressure really
schraders are the most common just becuase you can fill em up at the gas station if you wanted to. prestas have a weight advantage because they're smaller so the hole in the rim is smaller, hence you can use a thinner rim. saves you a few grams, not that big of a deal. prestas are more expensive and harder to come by. alot of road bike have them though.
As others have said Schrader is probably the most common as it comes on all entry level mountain bikes, hybrids, comfort bikes and all kids bikes including BMX. Presta because of its lighter weight is prefered for roadies and higher end mountain bikes.
