Why don't Robbie Fowler and Alan Smith play for England are they not good enough?

In a word - NO!! Robbie Fowler is too old now, and rarely plays for Liverpool (apart from meaningless games like the Carling Cup!) Alan Smith is only just returning from a horrific injury, and will never make it to the England team as he'd never get past Wayne Rooney to play up front, and McClaren won't dare drop Lampard or Gerrard in midfield!! He might appear on the bench in future games, but I don't think he'll play again!

Simple answer to this. They are simply not good enough. Fowler is past it now, and for England he never lived up to his full potential. Smith is coming back from a broken leg, and there are simply too many people ahead of him in the England queue.

When Owen had his Injury Fowler should have been called up not Walcott. Why because a Player like Fowler never losses his striker in stinks his a born predator of the game knows where the goal is . At 30 is not old for player at 30 you become more wise in your game and that is what he would have brought to the Squad if he got picked. With Smith he had a few good spells but after the foot injury wasn't the same.
