Why do people see that Fernando Alonso (f1 driver) is arrogant?

Perhaps they are Michael Schumacher fans,and are a bit sore because HE did not win Sunday's race!! Now NO-ONE, but NO-ONE can be as arrogant as Schumacher!! Alonso? Good luck to him!!

You don't get to be the best in the world without being arrogant enough to believe you can be the best in the world.
I dislike the little weasel, but have never thought of him as arrogant.
He can afford to be arrogant, he's a world champion sports driver, he's as fit as a fiddle and he's absolutely loaded.

Most F1 drivers and top sportsmen do have an arrogant air about them, as they want to be seen as confident and assured and not give their competitors any advantage.
Because he is, in everything he does and says. His comments at the press conference on Sunday after the last race of the season were particularly telling. He basically said how special it is to him to have won the Championship while Michael Schumacher was still racing. So, indirectly what he was saying to Jensen Button/Kimi Raikonnen/Felipe Massa/all other promising young drivers is that if they win the championship, it won't mean as much cos they didn't beat Michael.

Mainly because he thinks he can ride a Moto GP motorcycle just as well as Valentino Rossi. Alonso was reported to scoff at Rossi's track time in a Ferrari F1 car, despite Rossi coming within 1 second of Alonso's lap times.
When it was Rossi's third time EVER driving F1, and in a detuned car.
Alonso went on to propose a little challenge to Rossi: three races- one F1, one rally car, and one Moto GP, and the best overall time wins.
Alonso might take Rossi in the F1 car, but I doubt it would be by much. I don't know what Alonso's rally skills are like, but I guarantee that Rossi would LAP Alonso on a Moto GP bike right before Alonso highsided into the dirt!
What's next for Alonso? Will he tell Lance Armstrong that he could beat him in a bicycle race? Tell Payton Manning that he can throw a football farther? That's what I call arrogance.
