What do F1drivers do in the 5 months break before the next season , do they still work ?

Answers:
they are having a little vacation
and a lot of testing
they will start preparing for next season.
They get a break but they also work together with the teams setting up next seasons cars etc.
In SchMACKER's case, CONFESS HIS SINS!

Dirty low-down cheater!!
Promotional appearances for sponsors, pre-season testing, appearing on Top Gear, chilling on their massive yachts in Monte Carlo, that sort of thing ;)
they take a small break and then start preparing for the next season. and get used to the new vehicles.
They probably have to do promotional work, all with with keeping up an rigid exercise regime, to keep their bodies strengthened. But to be honest, i'm sure they could now afford not to work.
They have important things to do such as buy a bigger house in Monaco and cavort about on their yachts with scantily clad starlets.

They probably also have a period of testing for the new seasons car and promotional appearances.
i reckon they practice and spend all the money they earn.lucky gits.
they take it in turns to be the stig on Top Gear
i dont really know, this is just what i like to think lol
They will be testing, doing a lot of traveling doing promotional work for their team and the teams sponsors and perhaps taking a few days holiday as well.
train
P R work
have a Holiday with family

By January they have started testing the new cars for next season
towards the begining of the 5 month break their have a hoilday and chance 2 spend time wid their family then comin 2 the middle their do sme PR stuff lyk promotion and stuff and also 2 c the new car and its progress.....thenm gettin towards the end their start 2 test and and 2 improve their new car as much as possible by feedback......
Testing, PR work, training and having a bit of a break.
They get to relax a little but still need to keep their fitness levels up - but at a slightly reduced level. They will do promotional work for their sponsors and the car makers etc. They will also be testing, testing, testing and working on the cars for next year - five months isn't that long.
They all have a small break but then start to work hard for the next season, preparing their cars and engines, having many tests and etc. There is no break for those who want to get to the top, just hard work.

PS: b-b-b-brengun, get a life honey, all that hate is just not healthy!
Actually there is only 4months break (Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb). All the team have to shutdown all the research lab and testing for about 4weeks for the FIA to investigate. They will have a private ceremony for award presentation that another 2 week. They will have only a month vacation and the rest of the time they will be back to testing in their new car or new team.
They'll get a few weeks to spend with family and friend before returning to thier teams.
Some drivers (like Alonso and Raikkonen) will be trying to get released early from their current team so they can move on.
They'll have PR duties to deal with and there's probably a couple of Driver Union meeting as well.
Fittness levels will have to be at top notch so there'll be pleanty of visits to the gym, swimming pools, etc to do training.
And of course there's the testing of the new car. This will include visits to the teams base to see how things are moving along (and rasing moral of staff there).

There might be one or two other things but I think that's the basics.
They will take a break for a few weeks and then they will begin testing the new cars for the next season. They spend time in different climates to test the new technology and see how it works in the various different places.

They can test over several thousand miles during the testing season
Testing, testing, testing, more testing, a little vacation time, some personal appearances, and then some more testing before finishing up with some testing. I hear these guys put more miles in during testing than they do during the whole season. I wish I could remember the actual number of testing miles, but I was astonished to find out how much they test. Unbelievable.
they test all the new cars at tracks all over the world as test new parts plus they do work out to keep fit
press reviews and interview with the media
They lie on their lovely big boats in Puerto Banus and drink champagne surrounded by stunning birds. And for having a profession that dangerous, I think they deserve it xxx
Montoya used to eat and play tennis lol! but mostly prepare, if new cars there are promotions, testing etc
They will be testing, doing a lot of traveling doing promotional work for their team and the teams sponsors and perhaps taking a few days holiday as well.
