Greatest footballer ever and why ?

Answers:
Zinedine Zidane. He could slow games down, speed games up, score goals, create goals, tackle, pick a pinpoint ball, turn on a sixpence and beat people time after time. The greatest all round player I have ever seen..
Eric Cantona.
You have to look at what he did at Man U. In just the short amount of time that he was there that was some of the greatest football ever played at Old Trafford. Winning the Treble was no small feat and Eric the Red had alot to do with that accomplishment. It is unfortunate that he left in his prime.
" GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED"
Johan Cruyff.
current Mia Hamm because she lights up a room like she lights up a field
early the great Pele because he brought football to the Americans who still call it soccer
maradonna of course because he was very very good in his job?
Pele
George Best, cos at his best he bedazzled the opposition!
ronaldo. i don needa explain, do i?
Bobby Moore. Won the World Cup for England.
George Best, because he is the best!
Crouch! He can do the robot!
Greatest for me: Maradona
Why: Because I say so. which is what matters to me.
George Best. A great all rounder. Shame he wasn`t English.
1 more vote for George Best.

As he said "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered. ".

Anecdote of the year -
Best often told the story of a bellboy who entered his hotel room with breakfast in the late 1970s. Seeing Best in bed with Mary Stavin, the current Miss World, a magnum of champagne and several thousand pounds of cash won from a night's gambling, the youth exclaimed, "George, where did it all go wrong?"
Kevig Keegan - No, he wasn't the greatest footballer ever - BUT he gave 100% in every single game he played in - and that's what counts for more than all the skills in the world.

Even he once said "I'm not the best footballer in the word, so I have to try harder" and by golly, he did.

A player like that can do so much for a team, he sets an example and gives them confidence.
pele is the greastest footballer ever because of his scoring ability and style.
Maradonna, because he scored fantastic goals, won just about everything in the game, and scored the best goal ever seen in the world cup against England.
Stan bowles-still in the bookies or boozer 5 minutes before kick off, play a great game and then back in the pub.
What a QPR legend
that question is like comparing apples and oranges!
1) maradona- one of the best, great skills, carried argentina to a world cup victory!
2)pele- the other greatest player, greatest scorer(more than 1,000 goals!!)
3)ronaldhinio- greates player at this time.
4)podoski- possibly the greatest player to be!
5) buffon- proably the best keeper alive!

it's hard to chose just one when there's so many factors to concider!
cant judge 'coz every player was great in their own right, and years ago it was easy to be a good footballer.... so based on that i would have to say zidane, 'coz he's a modern player and so is trained better than the players who played in the last few generations. he is a consistent player, compared to players such as Ronaldo who is a good player but in the world cup you could see he was lacking in effort In conclusion Zidane Rules!!
oh yeah for those who dont know. i am a girl.(not that it matters)
Simon Garner
Who? I hear you say. This man devoted the vast majority of his career to one club, Blackburn Rovers, he had the opportunity to go to bigger and better clubs in what is now the premiership, but dedicated his talent to the Rovers finishing as the (then) record goal scorer.
a retired 1 its got to be zola nobody could forget him he was loyel and a fantastic player

and there is 2 for current players john terry and frank lampard the same as zola nobody will forget them and there just the best and they are still very young

i think that joe cole will be one as soon as he is properly back from injurey he is just a kid
HERNAN CRESPO.believe it or not people there is another Argentine, aside from Maradona, who can play football.

Crespo is one of the world's best payed footballers, Behind Zidane, and that is for a reason. The man is "the ultimate poacher" and I think he is constantly proving his worth. I truly hope he makes it to 2010.it would be an honor to have him here in South Africa!
Diego Maradona coz he done a lot with a s**t Team (Argentina) and Pele Did a lot With a wicked team brazil
