Ryder Cup scoring info please...?

What's the difference fourballs & foursomes?
Europe have won 2 games so far by 4&2 and by 1 hole - what does 4&2 mean?

Best answer goes to the 1st person that tells me this. Please don't keep repeating answers once this person has given their answer. Thanks.

The other guy is right

3&2 means 3UP with 2left to play (16th completed)
that means the other team has no chance of winning because they dont have enough holes.

Fourballs , is everyplayer playing his own ball and the lowest indiviual score wins,
thats why the US won the 1st hole even though tiger drove in for a swim, becos Furyk made a Birdie and both Paddy & Monty pared the hole.

Foursomes, is alternate shot, so tiger would drive and furyk would hit the second of tigers ball.

i hope that answes both ur questions
4&2
4 holes (points) up with 2 holes to go (ie game over)

so they must have gone into 16th hole 3 up (meaning the US would have to win all the next holes to draw (halve) the match

after they completed the 16th hole they won an extra point
so there points tally went up to 4 points, but there were only two points / hole remaining so the US couldn't win, the match is regarded as complete.
Advantage Europe on day 1
