Rugby is in a state in Scotland, cash wise. Rugby is more favored by the gay population isn't it? Too many heteros in Scotland. The football is fine, we'd beat England like the last time we played them at international level. Yes thats right, WE have the bragging rights.
The two are not all that similar.
You might as well ask if fishing is going better than football.
But to answer your latst question, then no, because rugby does not command the same level of support, sustain as many jobs and will never be the national sport.
Very few people play rugby in Scotland and it is hard to see how that might change.
A friend is a rugby development officer in schools and he's realistic about its appeal.
ie. not very much.
