No. Knighthoods are given out willynilly these days. What happened to people actually doing something worthwhile to be awarded them?

That tit has more money than all of us here on this site. When he was at Man U he was demanding a million a match. Fergie refused to pay it and he went to Real Madrid. Now he wants to skulk back with his tail between his legs for 5 million.

All honesty I think he does, but you must look further into the reasons for the honour than just football. Look at what he has done for children setting up football schools and for his charity work.
Oh geez, Beckham is a joke. If he is knighted, it will basically end what being a Knight is. It will lose all meaning. Elton John was a stretch, but at least he has done good for humanity. Beckham has done nothing, not even for soccer. In fact, he has made me not want to watch it even more.
Paul McCartney shouldn't have gotten one. There are millions of people who work to help the poor, to better society, or do medical research to cure disease. Only people who better society should get the recognition of a knighthood, not some mediocre guitar player or someone who plays bouncey.

David seems a nice boy, but he is over paid, and enjoys his work, so no, but on the other hand, does Mick Jagger, Cliff Richard and Paul McCartny deserve theirs, I say no, they have not done anything beyond there own enjoyment.

For his contribution to football? Maybe.. He hasn't achieved anything with England and everytime they had a chance he didn't play up to his potential. But his goal is to set up football schools all over the world and already has at least one in operation. He's bringing the game back to it's roots away from greed and so on, and back to the kids.
For his contribution to modern English culture, media frenzy and overall fan devotion. I don't think they knight people for that.
I personally would like to see him as Sir David Beckham, and seeing as they knight people left and right these days.. Why not?
