Buffon, trezeguet, del piero etc deciding to stay at juventus- honourable or foolish?

do they not stand a lesser chance of being selected for their national squads?

Answers:
it is honourable. if you are loyal in that way, then you are never being foolish. they don't have any lesser chance of being selected for their national squads as they are already well known to be very talented players. They have already made their mark, shown and proved their abilities for the world to see, and now it is time for them to be loyal and honourable.
that just showed how grateful they are to their team

they proved their loyalty to their team when most of the
players choosed to leave juve for money and fame like cannavaro n zambrotta !

they are heros to me im proud of them

as Nedved said " players go Men stay "
a wise man indeed
No they are loyal. I think they stand as much chance as the rest.
foolish

they're big players, if they wanna win things, move, if they're happy playing in the second division then fine
there are two ways of looking at this: firstly, they may love the club so much that they wouldn't dream of playing anywhere other than the stadio del allphi (probably spelt wrong!) for the old lady, in which case they would indeed be honourable and a benchmark for other ego's in the game to learn from and a great example for young players. Secondly and much darker, they may have been embroiled in the match fixing scandal and if they left, the club would release details of their dealings and most likely cost them their careers. look at Birindelli, he "fell" from a second floor window over the scandal, surely playing in the second division is better than falling out of a window.
I would like to say they are honourable, but if they are involved in the scandal then they are and always will be foolish, whether they stayed or not. This question has so many possible answers and reasons i feel an ambiguous answer best fits, so both!
Definately honourable-they are committed guys with a true love of the game..my hat goes off to each one of them
Forza Juve
if you sighn a contract you should honour that whatever the outcome, good on them!!
hmm.i think it's how they express that they loyal to the club which makes them 'big'.
and they must be felt owe so much to the club.
well, in my opinion i think it's no matter where Gigi or Del Piero plays, they names will be stuck in every coach.they know it thats why they decide to stay.
I do respect them for that.
SIMPLE

If they want money then they will not stay and go 2 EPL or lse lets see what happens 2 their career.
Its a matter of time
It's deeply honorable! speaking of Buffon and Del Piero. They're not opportunists!

But Trezegol wanted out.he was forced to stay. I dunno how I feel about that.
Hi!
They do not stand a lesser chance to be selected for the squad, since they all won the World Cup. That would depend mainly on what the new coach wants (Donadoni).
Now. at least for Del Piero I would say honorable. I don't think this is a foolish decision since he really is Juve and has done practically all his carreer at Juve. Besides he's, you could say, already pass the hill carreer wise, so it was a smart choice to saty with the team that gave you glory.
Now, I think there's a thing you haven't considered: contracts.
You really don't know what these player's contracts say, or how they force them to stay or not. Remember there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't really know.
I commented only about Del Piero because I think, among the three you mention, he's a special case for Juve and - out of that trio - probably the least solicited player to buy.
What you also have to consider, aside honor and foolishness, is the fact that, two years from now Juve will be back in Serie A, and for the next World Cup, Juve's glory will be restored and this whole thing won't probably be remembered.
Now. what would be of these players then? They will be HEROES! They will be back in Serie A and fans and everybody will know them as the ones that did not abandon ship and now are rejoicing with the hard work and results. That's a very good advertising.
Imagine this:
2009: Juve re-wins it's scudetos and - God willing - they win the Champions league. Wow! Trezeguet, Buffon and Del Piero would be heroes, the ones that stuck, the ones that took the challenge, the ones that gave the glory back to their teams.
If Cannavaro and Zambrota, up until then, did not achieve any big wins for Real or Barcelona (just to name a few. I love both these players, btw!) they would be "the ones that left ship for nothing".

Think of it as advertisement. Hmmmmm
As for me i do the honor thing. I stick with Juve!

Goodluck!
What are you talking about a lesser chance?? They stand a better chance for being honourable to their team.
I think these guys are fantastic for staying with Juventus..it just shows that they play with their heart and soul.not just for the money...Trezeguet is another story he was forced to stay.

FORZA JUVENTUS
HONOURABLE
if they play well they will definetely be selected for their national teams
honourable, they want to be with that club which made them famouse in those horrible times
HONOURABLE- they showed their loyalty to juventus, and want to get it back the serie a. :] theyre the best so its stupid if theyre not picked for the national teams. :]
It is a loyal decision., I respect them for it.
cmon, how can u say they are honorable?? trezeguet wanted to get the hell out of there, and as for del piero and nedved they wouldn't get a contract from many big clubs anyway because they are old. as for buffon, a lot of clubs went for him but he stayed, probably because he was involved in the scandal, or he is very loyal. even if he was signed it wouldn't be for very long becasue he is OLD. of all the players that stayed (besides trezeguet) look at their ages and u will know why they stayed.
The national selectors value players who stay in Italian leagues
The players are honourable and hopeful their national team selectors will be just as loyal and select them on merit.
Both honourable because at least they are loyal to Juve but foolish because they arent gonna get promoted this year and wont be back to their best for a few more years
They don't stand a lesser chance as they are all world class. And they are honorable, except for Trez who did try to back out of his contract, but was forced to stay. Smart move on their part. Ibrahimovic was overrated and they were probably going to sell him anyway. In Trezeguet they have a classic centre forward who bangs them in regularly, with Medved and Del Piero as well as Camoneresi to back him up and bang them in also. Serie sorry, but Juve is not staying down after this year.
They were all selected into their national squads
Honourable.they showed that money is not everything in football.Juventus made them what they are at the moment..It is an honourable thing that they didn t leave the club to root.Wheter the situation is good or bad you always have to stick with your club...
loyal if they go up heros
Trezeguet is not being released from his contract, he like Camoresi is staying not by choice. Buffon,Del Piero and Nedved are staying for honor and duty. Showing the class and selflessness that is unheard of in modern sports. it will have no effect on national squad selections.
Look, they are true and great players and they are loyal to their team. Buffon decides to stay on his own as well as Del Piero, they accept this situation and they prefer to stay. For me, it's really great they are staying. It's not at all foolish, for you maybe but not for me, for the other Juventus fans and especially not for these players. Trexeguet wanted to go but he's forced to stay so it's not the same thing. Cannavaro and Zambrotta didn't leave Juve because of money, they just wanted to play in another team, that's all. Why do you always refer to money everytime a player leave a team for another one? Money is not eveything, maybe the player wanted to discover another way of improving itself for this country. And why do you say "lesser chance for being selected" You are not fair at all insaying such a thing. Buffon and Del Piero are the best and they are the World Champions, so what's that madness of yours that they won't be selected. Of course theyw ill be selected as they 've got an important place in the team and they are the best!!
Honourable. If I was a player, I wouldn've stayed at West Ham when they got relegated.
Honourable i'd say, it may seem foolish to someone from outside the club, but i'm sure that these 3 players, and the others that stayed instead of jumping ship, just want to see Juventus regain Serie A status and become the top team in Italy and perhaps Europe once again.
I don't think anyone would ever leave Buffon out of the Italy squad who ever he played for, Del Piero is probably past his international prime now especially with the likes of Toni etc. in the Italy squad and Trezeguet was never a prominent fixture in the French squad no matter how well he played at club level there were always better players in the French team.
Honourable - as Buffon said, he's missing the Serie B winners medal from his collection!
Just a specification for "Zola", it was Pessotto who tried to commit suicide by throwing himself from the third floor window of the Juventus base in Turin, not Birindelli who has been playing, and quite well, in all the recent matches!
Those who stayed are not only Del Piero, Buffon,Trezeguet and Nedved, there is also Camoranesi, Birindelli, Zalayeta, Balzaretti, Chiellini. These players (with the exception of Camoranesi) could have ended up in other teams playing in serie A but they also chose to stay. Hats off to all of them!
A bit of last minute information: apparently, Inter is trying to persuade Buffon to move when the market opens up again in January, giving Toldo to Juventus.
I hope he remains coherent with his decision and doesn't go.
Honourable - Showing their faith to the club and probably foolish of arguably ending their international and european careers
