Just out of curiosity.(again)?

do u believe that cheerleading is a sport. in my opinion (im a cheerleader) i think it is a sport because we work just as hard as any other sport.. maybe even harder! we hold people up.. throw them. and catch them tell me that isnt a sport! so anyway. what do u think?

Answers:
cheerleading lacks one main thing to be a sport usually and that is competition.

However, there are probably cheer leading competitions and as it is quite physical, there is no reason why it couldn't be considered a sport, rather like gymnastics or synchronised swimming etc.
no. it's not. no matter what you say to try and convince us it is, you're just grasping at straws.
I just wish we had it in England
thats like saying syncronised swimming is a sport!
Going by your logic then, as you throw people around, Dwarf-tossing should also be classified as a sport, but alas it is not.
I dont believe it is hunny.xx
For what you do you should be paid as much as the sportsmen in the game you are a cheerleader for
it's a challenge
I dont believe it to be a sport just as i dont believe dancing is a sport. No doubt you do work hard, but i work hard at what i do but its not a sport by a long chalk.
Although this is a very active form it is not classed as a sport, but it may be a fact that should be contested as some other things that they say are sports i would not class like fishing etc. Cheerleading does take precision and concentration and a lot of planning.
cheerleading is dancing with pom poms, not a sport.
I have no problem with cheerleading. It's as much of a sport as female beach volleyball, aerobics Oz style, pole dancing and ladies tennis..
It depends in what aspect you are a cheerleader. If it is competitive where you are going against other teams, then yes. However, if this is just cheering on the sideline of a game, you are not really competing against anyone, so how could that be considered a sport?
yeah why not
unless its competition (with the gymnastics) cheerleading no it is not
I definitely agree with you. Plus cheerleaders have to look good as well. And Competitve Cheer is really big now. You have to be in shape and stay in shape just like any oher sport.

My 11 year old granndaughter just competed in a cheer festival where there were 22 teams in her divison. Each team had a minimum of 10 girls most had 15 or more and some had 20 or more girls and they were all excellent. Her team won two "gold medals" (everyone got a bronze, silver or gold) for their cheer and their pom routine (to "This is How a Heart Breaks" by Rob Thomas-it was AWESOME).

So, as far as I'm concerned, don't let anyone tell you cheer is not a sport!
NO CHEERLEADING IS JUST A "SPORT"TO PASS YOUR TIME AND TO TAKE OUT THE ANGER HA HA HA HA HA
i think it would be if the women were nude?

but until then, no way is it a sport!
I dont think it would be classed as a sport. But its a fantastic way of keeping fit and something that you should be proud to do.
Well I'd watch it! Womens beach volley ball is also a good sport
its not a sport but its dedicated entertainment
is dancing a sport.

no
Not a sport..
NO that's not a sport ,that's entertainment
No. Personally, I dont think any sport where the result is subject to opinion should be classed 'sport'. they should be classed as an artform. This is why I think 'sports' such as ice-skating (dancing) shouldnt be considered as sport (as it is the scorers opinion).
