Ju-jitsu for the olympics?
Does anyone know if Ju-jitsu (Japanese not Brazillian) is in the pipeline to be an olympic sport?
Answers:
They have Judo, Wrestling and TaeKwanDo. I doubt they would include Jujitsu before adding one of the many other Martial Arts out there.
Judo was derived from Jujitsu and the mat techniques are very simalar. I think they should get rid of TKD but that's my opinion.
Maybe they could add Muay Tai.
Good question but don't have an answer for you
i checked it and didnt find anyone called ju-jitsu, hope that its a good help to u
I have no idea, but it sure would be cool! I used to watch ultimate fighting a lot back before it was popular and remember one of the guys who used Ju-jitsu. I think if curling is an Olympic sport, so shall Ju-jitso.
If they allow sno-bording in the olympics! why not!
i hope it will be but i dont think so because i couldnt find nothing on the olympic website or or the net about ju-jitsu being in the olympics :( sorry
It would be excellent!! (Japanese or Brazillian) I think as more people get inroduced to it through MMA, the sport will grow. I'd like to see it move into highschool sports as well as college too. Only time will tell. But, I don't think anytime soon :(
Not as far as I am aware. I certainly cannot see the Brazilian one entering either.
you have wrestling, boxing, judo, and I believe Tae-Kwon do.
However, I'd like to see a modern version of Pankration. MMA stuff in the olympics would be cool!!
Obviously is will have to throw in some extra rule here and there, compared to the ancient greek version. LOL

'Laurence F' have made a good point and I agree with this totally. Lastly, I dont know why I was given a negative answer? Why?
i hope not .. martial arts are getting too sport related . this is not how they were meant to be and it is not how they should be...
a martial art is for life not points...
more martial arts that get entered as sport the more they dwindle in combat effective ness (that is not to say they arent combat effective, just that they are NOT AS combat effective)
no disprecpect to any sport martial artists out there as i really admire what you do.
It is actually there already! Judo is a form of Jujitsu. The founder of Judo selected the techniques of Jujitsu that could be applied full force and with intent & concentrated on them. There have actually been Judo Jujitsu matches & the Judoka have always come out on top. Judo does have a sport component but it is still a full blown martial art as well.
I disagree that you need to compete in sports to progress in martial arts.
you must compete certainly, but against oneself more than anything else, beyond that what are you doing martial arts for?
if it is winning competitions, then yeah compete in sports, if it is self defence, then competitions are taking you in the wrong direction.
If it is health, I would say do internal martial arts such as Tai-chi chuan, Pag-gua Qi Gong etc. discover the trinity of Martial arts and apply all of them equally.
There is more to the martial arts than can be covered in 3 lifetimes. Competition martial arts and winning cups and medals is not necessary.
