Nfl power ranking?

what is Nfl power ranking? and what does it mean when they rank high? how do they rank them ? Does this mean the team that is rank high goes to the superbowl?

Answers:
Almost all the different sports networks have individuals and/or teams that use various different systems to "rank" each team each week on its "power quotient" related to other teams. Some systems are sensible and are easy to understand and actually help fans to get a better understanding of the comparative strengths and weaknesses of the different teams.

Other systems are completely beyond ridiculous and are based on such a huge "wealth" of mostly irrelevant statistics as to end up ranking some 3-3 team higher than a 6-0 one. Others are based simply on the sports commentator's own person whims and preferences and you get stupidities like the Broncos rated at number one over the undefeated Bears and Colts.

To properly "rank" teams in a "Power Rankings," and to avoid looking ridiculous every week, one should take into consideration all the important items of defence, offence, especially running game and also very important: coach, quarterback and teams record especially in adversity. (If you have say, two teams like Denver and Chargers with similar records but very even strengths and weaknesses you would give the edge to Denver because of a much better coach, that sort of thing.)

If you want to follow the "Power Rankings," you should check out each one avaliable, what system they are using and how reliable they are week to week and pick the one(s) you like the best..
No, it is just people ranking cuz they are bored and don't got a social life..bet on it..so you just get a life for yourself dude.
i think its like their total stats. i dunno. heard it from some friend.
It is just the opinions of the sports writes on who is the best team, they are not official. The teams records decide if they go to the playoffs and the teams are eventually eliminated to 2 Superbowl teams.
Sports writers and analysts use stats and averages to say who is playing the best right now and rank them in order from best to worst. It's mainly opinions using stats. It has no bearing on the playoffs or the superbowl. If the team is on a 'hot' streak, they may rank high and then start losing and not even make the playoffs.
these work like the college football polls.they are opinions bsed on a variety of factors. usually based on how well a team is playing now more than anything. e.g. team A is 6-4 and team B is 8-2. team B has a better record.but team A may have just won 6 in a row.including a win over team B. since team A is "hot",their ranking is likely to be better than team B. they are also based on how you beat a team rather than you beat them.some analysts will penalize a tem for a bad game even if they win.
rankings have nothing to do with playoffs. wins and losses are the factors for the playoffs.in each conference the top team in each division gets a spot and 2 teams with the best records that didn't win their division geta spot also.
They configure the states on offense and defense also
there record. Example a team may be 5th in defense and first in offense but have 4-3 record there power around 3.Compared to a team 2cd def 6 in of. but have a 3-2 record they could be above them in power ranking
