The problem here is the FA wanted a yes man, and there is no bigger yes man in the world like Steve McClaren. If Big Sam was given the job I think he would cause a big stink among the powers that be at the FA and they dont want that. They want someone who will do as he is told!

Don't think it would make much difference who got the job, once the England team put in a bad performance everyone would be after his head. It would have been better if someone who had no connection with the England team got the job, 'new broom sweeps clean'.!

um, i think yh maybe it should have been sam. Mclaren has gd potential as a manager and we saw that during his time with middlesboro, they won the carling cup and got to the final of the uefa cup. they also beat the likes of arsenal man u and chelsea last season so it proves mclaren has some abilty. But he also had money to spend unlike sam who keeps bolton finishing in the top 8 for the last few yrs and i think the job should have been given to sam, since he is on the peak on his managerial career.
