Who else is fed up hearing about "66"?

Answers:
Probably the skirt wearing population north of the English border.
The poor sods hate being reminded that they've won nothing yet.

You are obviously Scottish, or work for the BBC. They are the only people that mention 1966.
You're Scottish aren't you?

Jealousy is SUCH a cruel mistress.
yes pleeeeease, its like not achieving anything since the pencil case you won for the sack race at primary school and going on and on about it still as an adult, get over it!
I am now
Defiantly!! Far from being uplifting it just reminds us that we HAVEN'T won anything for the last 40 years!!
so yesterday.
Pretty much everyone who isn't a Nigel.
There is a recurring theme here.
One is that Scots are somehow jealous of England.
After fifty years of living here and meeting people at all levels of society, I have NEVER heard anything remotely like that.
People are glad they are not English.
It's a much more exclusive club here and we DO have a national identity.
England is obsessed with 1966, Empire and World War 2.
Just the Nigels though, not everybody.
Oh, and what is it that stops English people from spelling 'definitely' correctly?
england are great dont do dissing them
My granny
I really am fed up with 66. Just like i will be fed up with hearing about winning the ashes and then winning the rugby world cup 2003 in the future. 66 was so long ago and the game has changed. They won the world cup and how come they were world beaters than and now we couldn't even beat ourselves. That's nothing to be proud of!. The ashes was a one off and will probably be hammerred down under (they also got knighthoods for winning a series!). England Rugby have no hope of winning the world cup next year -all are burnt out and there has been little continuity. The attitude for all our sports is to be the sports follower and not the leaders -in football the draw is always being played for and if they lead 1 0 they pack up and think about the next game -even the commentators are starting to pack up! We are not critical enough to hammer them into submission. If our mindset changed -then the opposition would be far less confident in playing us. I am glad that the world cup was not won by England this year -imagine all the gloating, knighthoods, key to the cities, public holidays, processions and statues that would appear.
Me.

Poor England, it won't be repeated again. 66 will always be remembered as the only time they won the world cup. There will be no more.
