Did Barry Ferguson do enough against the Ukraine to desrve another game for Scotland?
Couldn`t help noticing that time and again last night square ball Barry would lose possesion and them walk back to his starting position, effectivly leaving the team one man light when defending. Comments please.

It's wrong to say Barry gets in the team through a relationship with Walter. Remember Barry didn't get picked by Walter at Ibrox and it was Dick Advocaat who gave him his break. As for the Ukraine match I must say I wasn't concentrating on what Barry was doing. I was "ball watching" because I was too scared we were going to give one up so it is hard notice all the running and marking off the ball. In the 2nd half I do think that Barry did try to put his foot on the ball and make a pass forward but he was either closed down very quickly or there weren't too many options up front. The ball control of Miller was bad and he couldn't hold the ball up for others to come into play. Passes to him were mostly coming straight back to the Scotland defensive set up via a Ukrainian attack. You could also say Fletcher didn't play his normal game so clearly they had a job to do and stuck to it. At the end of the day it is a team game and had Miller stuck that header away when it was 1-0 then I think we would have got the draw.
Barry had an excellent game.He is one of our better players and a very good passer of the ball and Scotland needs more players like Barry.It was a tough game last night and we were always on the back foot all game until Ukraine scored.He played well against France and showed some quality touches..
By the way i am NOT a Rangers fan.
To many people are to quick to jump on Barry's back.Pity we didn't send our energy being positive insteed of the negative talk about Barry.
i think that barry is useless and if nigel quassie (excuse my spelling ) was fit i would play him every time over that stinking hun tramp!
he is the most overrated Scottish midfielder ever your rite about square ball Barry he is a joke..and i dont know why he ever got in the squad..infact yes i do know because he has a bonding session's with Walter no disrespect to walter he has turned Scottish footie around and i worship him for that but as long as he is the manager Barry will get a game even when he is out of match pratice he was nowhere to be seen against France and the ukraine game he looked 20% fit and i belive that was one of the reasons scotland lost that game(and that swimmer shev) i would have put severin in there instead of Barry at least he was match fit and put in more effort than baz did
The most overated player in scotland only gets a game because he used to make walters tea at Ipox !

I feel sorry when I read posts like this,I have to ask,would it be asked if he didn,t play for Rangers,he is Scotlands captain,like it or not,and personally I thought he had a great second half against the French,and a good game against the Ukraine.He may pass a ball square ,but that keeps possession.
I have to say that none of our mid fielders stood out,but if your,e only watching Ferguson maybe you missed that too.
I also notice the lack of questions about Millers miss towards the end against Ukraine,or of Hartleys first touch against the French from the best ball of the night,but then again if you,re only watching one man you would miss them.
Be fair with the criticism,or if you can,t, be honest about it.
He is just another of the many scottish players who play well for his club but f**k it up when he plays for his country.
I think by barry's standards he was poor his passing was way off at times,but he is a good player and i personally dont think he is fully fit at the moment.
i think they were trying to play a keep ball game but it wasn't working out there were very few runs in front of him because we were playing far too deep so the only ball he can play is square or back. its the first time scotland have looked scared of opposition since walter smith took over
on monday night, after the france game, i was listening to the real radio football phone in and was shocked when at least 3/4 callers came on a nd praised barry ferguson.i thought he had played terribly against france and was not impressed. he's just back from injury so i think that it is terrible that he came in and started the game when there was sufficient (fit) cover on the bench. and i was even more shocked when he started against ukraine and played just as bad, if not worse. in my opinion he shouldnt start another game until he's back to full fitness and able to cope with the demands of the opponents and the game.

He seems to be the whipping boy for the Scotland fans at the moment, and has been for a while. Nobody (apart from Craig Gordon, maybe) exactly covered themselves in glory against the Ukraine. Kenny Miller's sitter, anyone? He's a good player, not a World class one, so why do people expect miracles from him? It was the same with Beckham & England.

And as for the bigoted sc*mbags who have posted opinions on this page you've out done yourselves keep it up coz it really cheers me up that you enjoy lettin everyone know how little intelligence you have. And for the record this loyal Rangers fan thought Gary Caldwell was fantastic on saturday really did his country proud
