The system really does not work and at the moment we do not deserve to to qualify.
With regards Beckham - I think he warrants a place in the squad - but probably not in the first team (assuming everyone is fit) Mid fielders I would rate ahead of him are: Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves, Joe Cole. But tonight I think he would have started since only Lampard was available.
Too many top players injured, (Owen, Hargreaves, Cole) suspended (Gerrard) or just not playing well (Lampard / Rooney)

I never watched it, to be honest after that world cup im not really intrested anymore, enough has become enough. I listened to phone-ins on sat saying "why when the players trained all week for 3-5-2, only to lose ferdinand last minute and switch to play 4-4-2.also why wasnt Parker in instead of Carrick" I look today and the formation and Parker are bith corrected.....too predictable in my opinion, we are talking about a man who was 3rd choice although dont blame him.blame the idiots at the FA.
If teams like Arsenal gave English players a decent chance, then we would have better prepared English players, more competition for places and a world-beating team.
If only more teams were like Spurs who buy and bring-on Enlish talent as a matter of policy.

For the talent, may be you are not referring to the England Soccer team (may be Cricket or Rugby). You would rather talk about the zeal, teamwork and fittness. If any of these is lacking at any one time and Lampard and Rooney can't run alot, then the English team struggles. Talent is born, the rest can be taught. If you want talent (I know you wont like to hear this) go to Brazil. If not, what explains the two goals England conceded in Japan against Brazil when they were in the driving sit just before the end of first half?

Face it-England is good as Macedonia,but Croatia is better than England after all the final resolt is real! Qualify is a big question now,buy I don't think that they deserve with this kind of play and management.And the whole talent is gone with all that money that they get it per week,playing without heart for wining.
