Is it possible for a person who doesn't drink alcohol to have a good time in Dublin?
I am going to work in Dublin in a few months. I like to socialise, meet locals, party, make friends etc. However, I have a problem, that I don't drink any alcoholic drink. Is it still possible to visit the pubs and socialise with people? Do pubs serve non-alcoholic drink? Would I be frowned upon if I don't drink liquor?
Answers:
There are plenty of Dubliners who don't drink. Dublin pubs serve soft drinks and very expensive water - and most do an excellent cup of tea.
Your main problem will be whether you think you're having a good time when everyone else starts to fall over. If you can make a complete eedjut of yourself on lemonade, you'll be just fine.
nope
u will be fine - its not all about the drink in Ireland you know - dont believe all you hear.
hell yeh u can still have fun n no u wont be frownd apon im sure theyll welcome u anyway there nice peeps over there but watch it u could end up drinkin wen your over there
you don't need to drink alcohol to have a good time
don't worry what other people think as long as you are enjoying yourself it doesn't matter
What makes you think you need Alcohol to have a good time - alcohol is a depressant and something people hide behind - be yourself and you will have a great time.
Yes you need to learn to drink or the leprecauns will get you boy..
Of course you will have a good time. You can order soft drinks, fruit juices or punches. I don't drink but that doesn't stop me from enjoying myslef.
Whoever said you need alcohol(or drugs) to have a good time anywhere in the world. I know Ireland has a reputation for alcohol consumption and the "crack" that goes with it, but come on, there's more to making your life fun without getting absolutely bladdered. Have fun!!
Just be yourself, drink your soft drinks and enjoy.
You won't be the one feeling like crap the following morning and you'll be in control of your faculties all the time.
It's all the Irish do; they will think you are abnormal
oh my god!!Of course you will be fine! Do you expect Dubliners to hold you down and force a pint of guinness down your throat???
You'll be fine, really, don't worry about it. Make sure you travel all around and see the rest of the country also. Don't just stay in Dublin. Its like when people come to England, they stay in London and see no other part. Southern Ireland has great scenery you should really try visit.
yes of course. you can laugh at all the drunk people.
i don't drink either, although i have never been to Dublin i have been to many other places and i know it is ABSOLUTELY possible to have a good time without having a drink!! I would even go as far to say that you have a better time, because you manage to keep control of yourself, therefore not making a fool of your self in front of others and also you get to avoid the dreaded hangover in the morning, so yes YOU WIN!!
Pubs do sell non-alcoholic drink, all different types of juices, i myself like Fresh orange and lemonade...but i would say don't drink a juice to every drink your friends have, it makes you bloated lol, anyway stop worrying so much about it and just be comfortable with who you are and what your doing and enjoy yourself...hope you have a good time in Dublin!!
Dublin is one of the best party places in the world - no-one cares if you drink or not, as long as you are up for a great laugh. non-alco drinks are readily available in all pubs and clubs. try the virgin colada if you get a chance!
33.3333333333333333333333 per cent of irish ppl dont drink or sorry 33.33333333333333333 per cent of irish adults dont drink so that makes 333,333 in dublin. i reckon instead they eat cheese, have sex, drink fanta, goto plays, goto cinema, irish dance, watch sport, play sport, drive lots, take drugs?!! other than drink.dont worry youll survive!

great question though
Of course you can, Dublin's a super spot with plenty to do outside the pubs and Ireland in general does not revolve around drink like many think it does! You can have the CRAIC without being pi**ed! Enjoy yourself!!
have some skunks instead of alcoholic drinks!
Of course you can. I actually find it easier or more acceptable to drink whatever I want to drink in Ireland and not feel obliged to get stinking drunk. If I wanted to get drunk, that would be fine too.
Life is more laid back than in England.
