Where can I find some great views of london from quite high up?
I need to find some locations for some filming of views of the city to be used as video backgrounds for news reports. They would preferably be high up to ensure that it looks like there is an actual studio there. Street scenes wouldn't work for this reason, but I could use scenes from a park or similar.
Cheers

Best view of London = Parliament Hill, AKA Kite Hill on Hampstead Heath. I promise. Nearest underground station is Kentish Town.
London eye! But be quick, your shot wont last long.
try the London eye, but you will have to be quick!
the London Eye, The Monument, Big Ben, Canary Wharf
Post office tower up on the veiwing gallery offers excellent 360 degree views.
I discovered Greenwich Park last weekend and the views of London from the Royal Observatory are great!
Book a seat on the London Eye.
The London Eye, it takes about an hour togo round so it should give you plenty of time to get ya snaps.
The Wheel
you should really try the london eye as ive heard theres some really great veiws from that
Monument obviously has some great views, dont know about getting kit up there to film, but its a hreat view from the heart of the city. Crystal Palace and Alexandra Palace obviously have amazing views right across the city. Other locations could be either the restaurant at the top of Peter Jones in Sloane Square, which is has a panoramic view to the north of London, the Oxo Tower & Tate Modern on the south bank and of course the the towers of Tower Bridge. But the view from the top of monument is fab!
Hampstead heath gives quite a good panoramic view!
Of course the London Eye will come up tops (in a manner of speaking), but get yourself to Crystal Palace - it's on a hill, and you can see a great deal of London, even as far as the yet-to-be-finished Wembley Stadium. The best thing about it is that you do not have to pay arm or leg for it, and you need not worry about either getting stuck in a lift, or worry about the 'usual suspects' we have been told to give the hooded-eyebrow glare at, in the Eye. Hampstead Heath is also good, but after a certain time of the day, people (id est; gay folk and the police) might presume your there for summat else altogether.
Martinsbits - did they not close the BT (aka Post office tower) to the public in 1970.or thereabouts when the top storey was blasted by the IRA. Remember going there on school trip in 1967.
You could try the London eye, or failing that got to the top of ST Pauls, most high buildings are offices.
