Dorset - Liverpool travel choices?
hey, im goin to visit family in 'pool just after xmas. Before, I've always caught a lift with other family members, but this time, im getting public transport, either the train, a coach or a plane. Is it worth payin the £40 extra and flying up, or is it just as good to go via train/coach?
Many thanks

The closest airport to Dorset with direct services to Liverpool (LPL) is Southampton (SOU). Flybe operates a daily flight on this route. Fares for one-way travel, including taxes, start from 25 pounds. The flight takes about 65 minutes. You have to add 17 pounds for a single train fare from Dorchester to Southampton.
By train, you can travel from Dorchester to Liverpool by making two transfers on the way (for example, in Bristol or Winchester then in Birmingham). The journey takes about six hours and a half. The single fare is about 70 pounds.
By direct coach service, it would take you about 10 hours and 15 minutes from Dorchester to Liverpool. A shorter journey with transfers in Bristol and Birmingham takes about 8 hours and 40 minutes. The single fare is about 44 pounds.
So you can see that by air is the best way, provided you can get a good fare. Next comes coach, and train would be the last.

Flight time from Southampton is 35 mins. I could fly myself in 65 mins!
