Namibia - has anyone travelled there before? Any good?
Want to go on a holiday to Namibia. If anyone has been there, did you feel safe there and is there any place special that stood out for you?
Answers:
Namibia is just incredible. Its many people's favourite travel destination. I grew up in Botswana and we often went there for holidays. I remember eating really good German food in Windhoek, visiting the slightly weird and isloated sea-side town of Swakopmund (which you can see shrouded in mist as you approach through the desert), Etosha national park (fantastic place to see game), Ais Ais springs in the south (go horseback riding!) and Sossusvlei, one of the most famous sand dunes in the world. Travel with a good camera, as Namibia is very photogenic. Namibians are very hospitable and laid back people. If you want some advice from people who have been there very recently, check out http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com. and select the Africa branch. You won't regret a holiday to Nam :)
I'm in Angola ( next door) right now. I have never been in Namibia but many of the Angolan guys go there.
It is a HUGE, quiet , friendly country, they have no oil so they get left alone. The scenery is supposed to be stunning , too. And the crime rate is low- no "bandidos".
I think loads of South Africans go there, too. Namibia's a place I hope to visit myself, some day. it is on my list.
Namibia is amazing. The scenery is stunning, especially the skeleton coast and the sand dunes. Swakopmund is a party town with loads of adrenalin activities on offer. I did a skydive, quad biking, and sand boarding.
