10hr stopover in LA, any suggestions?

Answers:
10 hours isn't enough time to do much except maybe hit the Venice boardwalk and maybe Santa Monica pier.
When you get back to the airport have dinner at Encounter (its the bldg. that looks like an Alaskan Crab). Its done up in a 50's sci-fi theme.
Stay on the plane, they're all crazy!
have fun, visit warner bros set.
read a good book about LA you will cover a lot more ground
If you got almost a day long layover in Los Angeles, take the time to visit the city and if you can get a hotel room for the day so you can catch a couple hours sleep before catching your flight out to whereever you're going. Check out Beverly Hills and Hollywood got some interesting stuff going on there and do some sightseeing.
Go to SANTA MONICA (west of downtown near the Pacific Ocean). Santa Monica is the stomping ground of everybody from beach bums and fitness nuts to super models and silver screen sensations. This area is also home to the world-famous Sony Studios, where the likes of Columbia and TriStar "can" dozens of the cinema industry’s top blockbusters each year. The great weather, the beach, Promenade, Palisades Park, Santa Monica Pier, star-studded restaurants, and great shopping highlight this region of Los Angeles. Great dining spots include Chinois on Main, JiRaffe and Valentino. Shopping attractions include the Santa Monica Shopping Mall, Third Street Promenade and Montana. This is one of the better places to see and be part of the scene in LA, so don't be surprised if you find yourself standing in line or sitting at a red light alongside your favorite celebrities.

Remember to budget enough time to get back to the airport though. wea re talking about a city that's also famous for its traffic.
Well, it'll take 2 hours to get out & about the same to get back in, there's some interesting things on Sepulveda that's not too far from LAX

so with about 6 hours to kill I'd suggest getting a cab & asking him to take you someplace close & fun

Good luck
I'd say go to Venice Beach or Santa Monica. I live and work here, need a tour guide?
I would suggest doing a city tour on a bus. They take about 4hrs and you really do get to see a lot of the city and you will feel as though you have been there longer! They stop at lots of interesting places and you can either get off or stay on the coach, its up to you but it is a nice relaxing way of seeing LA
By the time you got to where you were going, it would be time to go back, I would get a day room or sit by the pool at an airport hotel,
Here are 3 options for you:
1) Venice boardwalk - lots of street enterntainment, good people watching and some shopping
2) Santa Monica pier/3rd street promenade - great pier with carnival rides, good food, great shopping on 3rd street
3) Manhattan & Hermosa Beach - great food, more upscale (no homeless people or freaks around), its the land of beautiful people here.

Enjoy!
Visit Olvera Street. You can browse the shops and enjoy a great meal.
