Lost bags when flying?
does anyone know what happens if when your flying and when you go to get your bags they have being lost,i no the flight company will give you some cash to c u through for a bit,but if u dont have travel insurance do u get fully compensated and wats to stop u from saying you had real expensive gear in the bag,who is to no any different even if u do have insurance how much do u get back without having to prove wat u had,its near impossible for them to prove wat u had so long as it does not exceed the weight restriction the airline impose.any ideas?

If your bag is lost, you must report it to the baggage service office right away. If you wait too long, the airline typically will refuse to run a trace and the bag may be gone forever. Most airlines only offer compensation up to a certain amount. Anything considered fragile or perishable inside luggage is not covered for damage if the bag is damaged at all. Any irreplaceable items or luxury items like jewelry, electronics, etc. usually are not compensated at all. You check them at your own risk. Check your ticket for the airline's full contract of carriage and baggage conditions.

this probably wont help you atall but i went to ireland last year i flew with ryanair and got to dublin intl. airport and they had lost my bag, i was there for 2 weeks, and for 11 days of my trip to see family i was stuck in the same clothes etc etc, when i got my bag back there was items missing ie. trainers, my suit and a few other bits, the airport said to me that there was nothin i could do as there was no proof of anything missing in the bag and assured me there staff arent in any position to go through customers bags unless suspected security breach but were very apologetic, i dont know how the system works now but thats what happened to me.
