Try Singapore or Malaysia. Singapore has Sentosa Island with lots of attractions for the kids. There are shops everywhere for mums and lots of bars for the dads. Malaysia is the same really and you can take kids to see the twin towers or the other tower (forgot what it's called!) plus it's quite cheap. one pound is the equivalent to about 5-6 ringgits. You can get cheap-ish flights there and in Malaysia hotels are very cheap (according to my parents anyway!) In Malaysia you can go to KL for a city break or Penang for a beachy holiday.
For me it has to be the New Forest.
Any scenic place which is not manmade.and full of greenery.
Buffulo New York---go see Niagra Falls---bothe the Canadian and American side. It's breathe taking.
