Any body know any good Jamaica holiday locations?

I am looking to go to Jamaica with my boyfriend next July 2007. I need to know of any good hotels and flight companies that you know do good deals?

Maybe you've been recently and wouldn't mind telling me a little bit about the area?

Thanks

Gemma

We went to the Wyndham Rose Country Club in Montego Bay. It's all inclusive. It's a kid friendly hotel but don't let that put you off!! There are great water slides and rapid pools just on the beach with swim up bars whichs have the most amazing cocktails (Ambassador Reef is a must).
There are loads of day trips to go on - I would recommend Nigril (cliff jumping and Rick's Cafe) and a waterfall you can climb up but I can't remember the name.
It's a great place but watch out for the lucky lucky people. They are a bit in your face and quite pushy and will try to sell you anything (including stuff of the illegal variety!!)
Fly Air Jamaica - drinks are free
Have a great time - I know I did!!
I am going to Jamaica in August next year for my honeymoon - we are staying in Ocho Rios which is supposed to be one of the best locations. Book with Sandals and you can't go wrong.
I went to Ocho Rios which was very nice staying at the Turtle Beach Towers which was affordable. If you've got the cash, then I suggest the Renaissance Jamaican Grande or one of the Sandals resorts specifically for couples. We flew with BA but it was cheap because we got a group discount. Places of interest include the Bob Marley Museum and The Dunn River Falls. Very goood weather and the people are friendly and will love you because you are English. You will probably not understand a word they are saying though! Lovely Caribbean food and great cocktails too. Have fun!
I also suggest that you book with Sandals for a nice, all-inclusive holiday. I stayed in Ocho Rios and was not impressed, however, there are a lot of things to do in and around Ocho Rios. If you stay at a Sandal's resort, you will literally not have to leave the entire time you are there and you can go to other Sandal's properties in the area with their shuttle - there are several Sandal's in the O.R. area.

Some suggestions of things to do - climb Dunn River Falls, horseback ride through a working plantation (my favorite), raft trip down a river - think of a flat wooden raft, gondolier, and a bottle of wine (or Red Stripe beer, if you prefer). There's also parasailing (do it with a reputable company recommended by the hotel and not just some guy who offers it on the beach - think safety), diving, snorkeling, tours of rum factories (free sampling), etc.

You'll be approached to buy drugs during your trip - it would be unusual if you weren't approached in Jamaica - and if you are approached simply say, "No, thank you". Believe it or not, the dealers are usually in cahoots with the police to trap tourists into buying drugs. The dealer turns them in and receives a reward, the cops confiscate the drugs, the dealer provides 1/2 of the reward to the cops, who give him back the drugs. At the very least you will pay a hefty fine ($1000+ for grass and more for others) or find yourself in a Jamaican jail (not a pretty prospect).

Contact a Travel Agent and have them put something together for you. I recommend an all-inclusive package vacation - Worry-Free Vacations or Funjet (Apple is a rip-off). Have the TA put it together for you to make sure all the details are handled. If you don't have a passport and are travelling in 2007, get one ASAP,
Ocho Rios.
We were in Jamaica in July and had a wonderful time. I suggest you decide what it is that you want in a resort and go from there. We wanted a "no kids" resort and one that had a disco that stayed open late. We decided upon Breezes Runaway Bay (which is currently being remodeled so it will be like new in July).

Check out TripAdvisor.com for a TON of information on resorts and areas. Type in the area of Jamaica or a resort name and you will get trip reviews. Also, check out the forums section. Have a great trip!!
