Im from the uk going to new york in dec for 4 nights my passport is 5yrs old will i be allowed in??l?
Answers:
If the expiry date on your passport is 2011 and the passport is machine readable you have no worries. Otherwise you may have to get a new one.
no
if you are under 16 probably otherwise deffenatly
i sure hope not--go home and get some dental work chip-chip cheerio
What is the expiry date? If its expired you will not be allowed in.
The USA is a law unto itself - I suggest that rather than yahoo you approach the US embassy or check their website to see if their latest security measures require the new passports.

Update: I see some people have got their panties in a knot re my daring to say anything even slightly disparaging about the USA.
Well too bad - have been through endless red-tape with my partner re a visa, so know from experience what I say has validity. US citizens never get to experience this so are hardly able to judge! Enough said.
Further to your Question - this came to light with a little help from google, I think it answers your question:
"Q: What is required to enter the United States under the VWP on or after October 26, 2005?
A: Valid passports issued before October 26, 2005, are valid for travel under the VWP provided they are machine-readable. Passports issued or renewed/extended on or after October 26, 2005 require a digital photo integrated into the passport data page for travel under the VWP. "
u won't be allowed out mate
nope. approval for a new one takes three months. you will have to find another way there.
If you are over 16 and the paspsort has 5 years left to run, then of course you will, only time to worry is when it has 6 months left as some places won't let you in then. check your passport out for its expiry date..
NO YOU WON'T! Not unless you give the attendant something worth while, then he might let you through, $1000 would help, but it would be easier to wear a low cut top and a nice short skirt! hahahaha, goodluck, let us know the outcome!!
just ring the embassy they will tell u
Your passport should last 10 years. Make sure you check the expiry date in the back where your photo is. If you're within the date you're fine!! If it has expired, you've still got time to get a new one. Ask your post office about the service. There is an extra charge for a quicker service.
have a look on UK passport advice
Yes. But it must have at least 6 months left on it. I'm sure it will be fine for immigration purpouses. Check with the embassy though
You are still considered a minor & should travel with parental guidance. Ask your embassy about it. Different countries might have different ruling but I think 18 is quite safe already.
I would think you'd be okay with 5 years left.
I'd call the airline to double check.
you will be allowed in. There has to be more than 1 year remaining before it expires
uk passports are good for 10 years
Of course you'll be allowed in if you have five years left on your passport. Certain limitations apply to certain countries, concerning the expiry date, but these restrictions usually apply to people with less than six months left on their passport
A UK child passport (for under 16's) is valid for only 5 years. Then you must go on to get the Adult passport, which is valid for 10 years. But you say you've already had your passport for 5 years.. so I'm assuming that you already do have the Adult version. If so, then yes you'll be absolutely fine. You're only going for 4 nights after all. :-)
Ifyour passport is machine readable, and you don't have a criminal record then you will be ok.
yeah, they will allow it, but as a foreigner you will have to get your eyes scanned, and fingerprints taken. I am an american and have not had to do that, but my husband a german has to do it everytime.
