When's the best time to go to Budapest?
thinking of going around Christmas time for 4 nights, with my girlfirend. is it cheap? We are both in our early 20's. What's the best things to do? Is it romantic? What's the best way to get about?
Answers:
There is a Christmas fair from November 25th to December 24th.
The main attraction of the Christmas in Budapest is the traditional Christmas Craft Fair in Vörösmarty Square, which has been a favourite amongst people preparing for the Christmas festivities. The fair, which is the main event in the tourist off-season, is equally popular amongst Hungarian visitors and foreign tourists who often travel to Budapest specifically to see the Christmas Craft Fair. The event is considered to be one of the greatest Christmas fairs in Europe.
The aim of the fair has always been to make one of the most beautiful squares of Budapest into a scene worthy of the festival, where instead of cheap goods the people of Budapest and foreign visitors can buy high-standard folk art and unique craft products. By keeping the high standards and the variety of programs and the continuous growth it can now be said that one of the largest events in Budapest in December has grown into a well-known and respected program on the international scale.
Though from BBC,
"Best time to go
Budapest is one of the sunnniest cities in Europe. That means summer, autumn and spring are all glorious times to visit"
&
"Verdict: Angela found Budapest to be full of unexpected treats - the food and wine was really good, there's lots to see and do and it's all really good value."
I guess all year round then basically. Winter for the fair and Spring, Summer and Autumn for a general visit.
Not now, because of the conflict.
I think it'll be safe to go there as a family vacation from the beginning of next year.
go christmas tyme
The best time would be around 3.30 pm
Conflict? They're only political demonstrations, a few violent outbursts in an otherwise uneventful protest, so ignore that last answer, it's not Gaza.
I came back from Budapest on Sunday after a weekend there and I can recommend it. It's cheaper than the UK, the food is great, loads to see and the people are very friendly (especially if you make an effort to speak a few words of Hungarian, not the easiest language to learn!).
There are buses, trams, metro and trains, you can buy a card which gives you unlimited travel for 72hrs, pretty cheap. GO!
