Indian Touris Visa from the UK?
Does the Indian Embassy grant you a visa when you first vist them or do you have to return?
Answers:
If you are a British Passport Holder and go to the Embassy in London, you need to get there really early (I was there about 07:45am and was about 20th in line!) Anyway, you hand your passport etc to the lady and go and sit down, your visa should be ready in about 45mins to 1 hr. Don't go anywhere - wait until you get it.
If you arrive after midday - your visa will not be ready until the following day
In Edinburgh you can take your application form and passport in the morning and pick up the visa in the afternoon. probably similar in other consulates in UK
candice is absolutely correct. have a great trip
Yes I have always got one on the day from the High Commission in London - get there early (it opens at 8.30), there will already be a long queue outside the door - it's a bit bureaucratic, they give you a slip of paper with a number on as you go in and then you sit in a crowded room until your number comes up, then you go to one kiosk where they check your form, take the money and keep youir passport and give you another slip of paper to come back and pick up your passport with visa within an hour. the longest it has ever taken me is about 3 hours in total.
