New cross london?
Does anyone know if new cross in london is a safe area or is there a lot of crime there?

Nowhere in the world is safe. You sound like a nervous American, and your question could be code for "Is it a poor area with a high proportion of black people ?" in which case, the answer is Yes. But you should not confuse poverty with crime or assume that black people are going to hurt you. Statistically they are more likely to be the victims of crime.
London is a city, and all cities have crime. But then again, a lonely country lane is not very safe either. Stay where the people are, don't dress flashily or stupidly and walk confidently.
I think New Cross is fine - though it's a few years since I lived there. But it's not Hampstead. Lot of crime in Hampstead.
I go there every day and i always feel safe and i'm quite a sensitive person when it comes to personal safety
New cross is notoriously a bad area. I lived and grew up in the near vacinity to here. There are probably some nice areas.Go on line and look for the local crime stats for the area. Or you could always call the local police station, Thats if it hasnt been burnt out. sos to anybody who lives there. But i aint loosin me roots yu get me.
It could hardly be called the most salubrious area of London, and as a London, I regard it as the sort of place that is very nice to pass through - at a high rate of knots - on the way to the south coast or further ! ! !
New Cross is a pretty dodgy area, i used to drive through there on my way to college and never felt safe but then again nowhere in London is safe
it is not a high risk area to visit however it does have a high burglary rate so would think careful if moving there.

If you are considering Goldsmiths go ahead and try it. You should have a great time if you are reasonably careful (London is a city).

well i moved from there 10 years ago i lived there as a child
it was a no go area for the police on the milton court estate back then (not far from the train station)
it's a great place as long as your a drug dealer
if thats where you live good luck
and some advise don't go out after 6pm that when you need to watch your back
