Here is your answer:

Go to this site: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/contine.

Then select the plane you will use. If you are nto sure, you can call the airline.

There you will find an explanation of each seat. The greenpnes are the best..

Good luck
Ask for it when you purchase your ticket. They may give you a seat in the last aisle of the plane.
try get a set on the front row opposite the crew seats - by the doors
Fly first class or sit in the hall.
Request to sit where the emergency exit doors are, by the wing. Or right at the front, between business class and steerage, I mean economy class.
sit on the chair like a liitle Buddha
Don't take a bath for about two weeks before the flight, don't shave your legs, and wear really short shorts. (Wear a tank top, too, and make sure your armpits aren't shaved)

When you show up to take your seat, make sure that you mention that you just ate at the Sbarro, and your stomach is not settled yet. The person in the seat next to you will flag down the flight attendant and demand a new seat. Then you can stretch out on his seat!
Ask for bulk seating.. very first row.
well u could pay for the seat in front of u and get the cabin crew to remove it for that flight....u wont know unless u ask..
Emergency exit row or the first row in coach class.
The disadvantage to the first row in coach is the lack of storage under the seat in front of you(since there isn't one.)
remove the seat in front of you...
Volunteer to sit in exit aisle. You may have some extra responsibilities, but the exit aisles have more leg room.
Fly First Class!
To guarantee it you need to pay for a business class ticket.
If you check in early enough and don't have an medical conditions that won't allow ask staff if they can give you a bulkhead or emergency exit aisle. Look for the most friendly member of staff on the check in desk. These seats will be the first to go so checking in early is a must.
If you're really cheeky you could ask if you could get an upgrade to business class. If economy is overbooked then they will do it but usually for people who've got a higher priced economy ticket or someone who looks the part. It might sound silly but dressing in work attire will give you more of a chance than wearing your khaki holiday shorts and trainers.
Good luck.
phone the airline 24 hrs before the flight and see if you can arrange your seat plan hopefully by the exits, when you are there phone again to select your out going seats, also continental Airlines don't have ( or should i say didn't have) tv's in the backs of the seats, so take a good book ! I travelled with them last year and was disappointed there was no tv in the back of the seats, just a small tv 5 aisles away
