This isn't like your usual questions. Have you spent a night in drinking on your own again?
Now thats uncalled for. I'm English, with many Scotish friends, and I'm not up myself.
shut your f.u.c.k.ing mouth you iron brew slurping junkie
i hear that .i was born in glasgow .lived here for bout 15 years ...like the work .hate the ppl
you would say that your scottish, a tiny WEE little country that want to be part of england
its better than being scottish
im english with scotish friends.
scots like u suck.
thank god they not all like u.
sp what if england a better place GET OVER IT!!
can't stand ur accent mate! no matter what! shame!
i think it is the language thing.all races seem to want to speak english.not their fault really is it?
my father was Scottish ( in the Black Watch in fact ) my mother is English, but I agree with you!
I say! Up ourselves? I should jolly well think not! However, if we were we would have good reason to be. We are, after all, the finest race on the planet; Eloquent, civilised, self-effacing and all round jolly good eggs. So there you are, my haggis-eating friend, the facts laid bare.
Now off you trot and make some short bread and a deep fried mars bar for tea. Ta ta!
A little bit uncalled for, speaking as a Welshman! English people are not 'up themselves' as a rule, it's just certain individuals.
I think of the English as neighbours - ok to say hello to, but you wouldn't invite them around for tea!
So don't be hostile to the English - they can't help it!
It's because we constantly feel supperior to those north of the border.
Thats like asking; why does someone in a higher ability class feel beter than someone in a low ability class!
The answer is that english people aren't really up themselves. They have a right to national pride, just like any other nation, scotland included. For some reason the english are denied this most of the time and dismissed as being arrogant just because sports teams etc have had a good run recently. It is more commonly the attitude of foreigners in engand that provoke a reaction by denying them this right to national pride.
Maybe they have good reason to be.Your question speaks for itself.Work it out,if you can !!!!
sorry upourselfs ? if you mean we take pride in being english then i am so charged are you scotts not proud of your selfs ? do youn not think yourselfs the stronges and bravest of people not unlike the english we face advercity stand or fall we face it and do are best if being up your self is being proud of my self then i am up my self proud of it i am english see my stiff upper lip ,here my posh accent and feel bad coz your not up your self !

note im not posh im not strong and i dont have a stiff upper lip it just sounded good
I'm English. I did not understand your Q. Is there an interpreter in the house?
Why are you so worried. The English never even think about the Scots, why do the Scots never STOP thinking about the English?
They're not up themselves, they just don't base their indentity on resentment and envy like the Scots - and they don't spell like morons, as you do.
Define "Up Themselves".
..y should we care what u think?were proud,n u no it..england number 1.
Ahh good old resentment shining through again..

Thanks for the two points though
english the best

i know but i am not an english thou heeheheh
Have to say I am disgusted with both this question and some of the responses.

I'm Scottish myself and think that we all fall in to the trap set for us by the media. Most folk in Scotland (apart from the very ignorant) do NOT hate the English but do hate the insidious and patronising ways of some Southern media types. Also, I don't think many Scot's would want to be English as some of the other poster's have stated.
Long live the differences between us and long live a healthy respect between us too.
Jesus, If we can't get on with our most direct neighbours then who the hell can we get on with?

Reading all the garbage on this thread has made me very angry, at both sides of the divide.

For one, I have never even seen a deep fried fooking mars bar let alone eat one and for all of my fellow Scots out there waging a war of ignorance against the English? Grow up! You are giving us all a very bad name.
Ashamed of you all!
Ochsterboxter.
Anyone who shouts "Scotland forever" to a group of complete strangers (us) sounds to be up himself quite a long way. So what is it about you?

It does you credit to take pride in your country, but must you do it by criticising someone else's?
Wales forever.....
I think you might find that certain people are just up themselves and you determine this by judging them against yourself or other people who are around. I don't see what's wrong with being a little self involved. Is this a football question or just a general thing? If it's football then they have a right to be up themselves 'cos they are better than most lol
i agree with you, im from Glasgow. I live in england now, exeter to be exact and so many times people make sarcastic little comments which they think r funny when its not. they are always making jokes about Scotland.
I would move home in an instant if it wasnt due to my boyfriend. I cant stand how ignorant they are, and your right they are up themselves.
i agree!
give us back our country and leave us alone
i would rather have a yorkshire pudding than a haggis
